Holy Cross Hospital is experiencing a disruption to its phone service.

Hospital services remain open, and no critical or lifesaving systems are affected. However, the hospital’s main phone number, 575-758-8883, is currently unavailable.

The hospital’s IT team has identified the issue and is actively working to restore service as quickly as possible. Staff throughout the hospital have stepped up to ensure operations continue smoothly.

Anyone experiencing a life-threatening emergency should call 911.

We will continue to post updates at https://holycrossmedicalcenter.org until phone service is restored.

The Holy Cross Cardiology Clinic remains open and continues to serve patients, with experienced visiting cardiologists supporting care while we recruit permanent team members. Holy Cross plans to add two cardiologists and one advanced practice provider, and candidate interviews are already underway.

Our long-term vision is not simply to maintain cardiology services, but to grow and enhance them. Expanding our team will help reduce appointment wait times, improve access for medication refills, and provide more timely surgical clearances.

We are also working to expand cardiac diagnostics and imaging available locally, including stress testing, echocardiography, coronary CT angiography, fractional flow reserve, plaque analysis, and cardiac MRI services following the installation of our new MRI later this year.

Holy Cross is committed to building a strong, sustainable cardiology program that provides high-quality cardiovascular care close to home for Taos and the region.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 30, 2026, marking an important step in the development and construction of Holy Cross Medical Center’s new Medical Office Building. Located on the hospital campus, the new facility will expand access to primary and urgent care services while helping build a lasting legacy of care for a healthy future.

Thank you to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, Senator Roberto “Bobby” J. Gonzales, Representative Kristina Ortez, Taos County, and the Town of Taos for working together to support local healthcare!

In 2025, Holy Cross Medical Center completed a Community Health Needs Assessment to better understand the healthcare needs of our community. The assessment found that access to primary care was the top healthcare concern for people throughout our region. In response, Holy Cross began working with our community partners to pursue a solution.

Today, that work reached an important milestone as we broke ground on a new 20,000-square-foot medical office building that will be used to expand local access to urgent care and primary care services.

The facility will include 30 exam rooms, substantially increasing our capacity to care for local patients. Expanded primary care will help more people maintain their health, prevent illness and develop long-term relationships with their providers. Urgent care will give patients another option for illnesses and injuries that need prompt attention but do not require emergency care, helping reduce costs for patients and easing the demand on our Emergency Department.

County Manager Brent Jaramillo led today’s ceremony, which featured remarks from Taos Pueblo Governor Michael E. Martinez; Holy Cross Medical Center CEO James Kiser; Holy Cross Medical Center COO Sue Romansky; Senator Roberto “Bobby” Gonzales; and Taos County Commission Chair Miguel Romero.

We are especially grateful to Senator Gonzales for his continued support of healthcare in our region and for his work to secure funding for this important project.

A project of this size requires an extraordinary amount of work and cooperation at every level. Holy Cross is proud to partner with Taos County, the Town of Taos and the State of New Mexico to make this new facility possible. We sincerely thank everyone who has dedicated their time and effort to bringing it to this point. Bradbury Stamm Construction is leading construction of the new facility, which is expected to take approximately 18 months.

This is an extraordinary advancement in healthcare access for our community, and we look forward to watching the new facility take shape over the coming months.
