Tiny hands, big love! 💐🥰

This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating all the moms, grandmas, caregivers, and mother figures who show up every day with patience, strength, and endless love. We loved helping our kiddos create these special crafts to celebrate the people who mean so much to them.

These little hands may be messy, wiggly, and growing fast… but they sure know how to make something meaningful! Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Therapy In Action ❤️

Big smiles, strong grip, and full body engagement 💪

Riding the disc swing on the zipline builds core strength, postural control, and motor planning all at once. Holding on, stabilizing through movement, and adjusting in real time… this is where coordination and confidence grow!

And of course… it just feels like pure fun!!! ✨

Cut, paste, create… and so much more going on here 🐛🌈

This simple caterpillar craft is packed with skills:

🖐️ Bilateral coordination using both hands together
🎯 Visual motor integration to stay on the line
🧠 Sequencing and planning to build the caterpillar in order
🤏 Finger precision with gluing and placing small pieces
👀 Attention and focus from start to finish

Add a little creativity, and there’s so much self confidence when they see it all come together!

Play-based activities like this are how we build the foundation for so many everyday skills—writing, dressing, feeding, and more!

April is Occupational Therapy Month 🤍

At Therapy In Action, OT is about helping kids feel more confident in their bodies, more regulated in their day, and more independent in the things that matter most. From climbing and swinging to feeding and fine motor skills, every activity is purposeful and built around each child.

We meet kids where they are, build trust, and help them grow through play, movement, and connection.

We’re grateful for our incredible team of OTs who show up every day with skill, patience, and care for the families we support!

Motor planning IN ACTION!💪 Scroll through ➡️

This activity starts on the trapeze and transfers to the moon swing, challenging the child to coordinate their body, time their movements, and figure out how to safely shift from one piece of equipment to another. These types of transitions are powerful for building praxis, which is the brain’s ability to plan and carry out new motor actions.

As the child moves between the swings, they are working on:
• Motor planning and sequencing as they organize their body to transfer
• Bilateral coordination using both sides of the body together
• Core strength and postural stability to maintain control in suspended movement
• Grip strength and upper body strength while holding the trapeze
• Vestibular processing as the body responds to movement and changes in position
• Body awareness to judge where their body is in space and how to adjust

Obstacle course-style activities like this also build confidence, problem solving, and persistence as kids practice a challenging skill and feel proud when they figure it out! We love to play with PURPOSE in OT! 💛

The Whale swing 🐋 is one of our FAVORITES for many reasons:

• Provides rich sensory input through movement and deep pressure to help kids feel more organized in their bodies
• Supports body awareness by giving clear feedback to muscles and joints
• Builds core strength as kids adjust their position to stay steady
• Improves balance and postural control in a playful way
• Encourages using both sides of the body together for better coordination
• Strengthens motor planning as kids figure out how to move and position themselves
• Offers calming, rhythmic input that can support focus and emotional regulation
• Great for kids who need support with attention, anxiety, or high energy levels
• Can be used in different positions to target specific goals
• Easy to pair with activities like clip transfers or bean bag tosses to work on fine motor skills and crossing midline

We 💙 to play with purpose and have a whole lot of fun!
