A single red poppy growing through concrete stopped me on a morning walk. It got me thinking about hardship, leadership, and caregiving in a completely different way.

So many of the abilities people admire in us today came from experiences we never would have chosen for ourselves. Structure instead of chaos. Empathy earned through pain. A kind of steadiness that only comes from living through the hardest chapters.

That poppy wasn’t blooming in spite of the crack. It found a way to grow through it. And you can too.
