Jeffrey (Jeff) S. Spranz, resident of Clifton, NJ., age 60, passed away Monday August 24, 2026. Jeffrey was born July 27, 1966, in Hackensack, NJ to the late Carol (Konradt) & William Spranz, Jr. Jeff graduated from Riverdell Senior High School in 1985. He built his career working at multiple sheet metal companies in estimating, most recently as head estimator for BD Piping Incorporated, Hackensack, NJ. He was a member of Steamfitters Local 638.
Jeffrey is survived by his beloved wife, Dina. He also leaves behind brother Bill (Cristan), sisters Lori (Brad James, deceased) and Lisa. Jeffrey is also survived by his in-laws Joe and Camille Martino and brother in-laws Anthony (Carmen) and Joe (Jen). He is the dear uncle of Billy, Jillian, Kayla and Marco.
Jeff enjoyed spending time at his shore house in Tom’s River, NJ, with Dina, his dog Bubba, family & friends. He loved fishing, whether off the pier or out at sea and crabbing in the bay. In his youth, he enjoyed summers sailing, camping and spending lots of time in the Catskills in Upstate NY.
Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, August 28, 2026, from 2-6PM at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10AM at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 155 Williams St., Bellville, NJ. Interment to follow at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, NJ.

Kathleen (Kathy) Bailey Kaplan, born September 15th, 1959 passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 25th of 2026.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents Rosalie and Bill Bailey in 2020.

Kathy is survived by her adoring husband Michael, her daughter Laura and son-in-law Alex, and beautiful granddaughter Phoebe. Kathy also leaves behind her beloved siblings, Mary Allan (Bill), Irene Maury, Bill Bailey (Siobhan), and Teri Dowling (Pat). She also leaves behind her 16 nieces and nephews and 6 grandnieces, all of whom she loved to spend her time with.

Kathy was a Bergen County native, growing up in Paramus with her four siblings. She and Michael moved to Ramsey to raise Laura, where they built a wonderful life together. The Jersey Shore was always a special place to Kathy, and she was so happy to fulfill a lifelong dream of retiring there with Michael.

Kathy devoted her career to caring for children and adults with disabilities, working for the Ramsey School District and Bergen County Special Services. Kathy’s unwavering warmth established her as a light for those she cared for, and she had a special way of making every person feel valued, accepted, and loved. Kathy’s caring nature was not limited to her work; it was a quality she carried into every part of her life.

Kathy’s favorite place to be was wherever her family was, and a close second was the beach on a sunny day with a good book. She cherished the time...

John A. Walsh, 87 of Oradell, New Jersey entered eternal life on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at the age of eighty seven. John “Jack” Walsh was born Monday, August 14, 1939 in Queens, New York, John was the son of the late John T. Walsh and Evelyn (Hughes)Walsh. He was the oldest of six children.. At 16, John lost his beloved mother and a baby sister, Marilyn to illness. He and his siblings were raised by his father and maternal grandmother, Frances (Nana). As a young man, John worked for Bache & Company on the New York Stock Exchange. It was during those early years that he met Helen Freehill, the woman who would become his wife and lifelong partner until her death in 2015. John and Helen married in a small ceremony and began their life together in Sunnyside, New York, where they welcomed their first two daughters. As their family grew, John and Helen moved across the Hudson River to Oradell, New Jersey, settling on Beverly Road. Three more children soon followed, bringing their family to five children and making Oradell the place they would truly call home. It did not take long for John to become part of the fabric of the community. While living on Beverly Road, a few of his neighbors introduced him to the Oradell Auxiliary Police, and John began volunteering as an Auxiliary Police Officer. EUGENE DAVID SKURNICK

October 9, 1941 – August 17, 2026



Please join us in mourning and celebrating the life of our father, Eugene David Skurnick, born October 9, 1941, in the Bronx in New York City. The son of Dora and Morris Skurnick, Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe, Eugene was raised on Longfellow Avenue in the Bronx with his younger sister, Francine. There, he was reportedly known by all for his distinctive red hair and equally distinctive sense of humor. The young Eugene was passionate about the violin, and he went from Music and Art High School to City College to Brooklyn Polytechnic, from which he graduated with a Ph.D. in electrical engineering.

On December 23, 1963, Eugene married Blanche Jacqueline Jordan, an English professor and physician. The two moved to Englewood, New Jersey to raise their family, and Gene began a political career as a councilman for the city, a position which he held for 20 years in non-consecutive terms while working as an electrical engineer. He was a passionate fighter for the children of Englewood, bringing a vision of Englewood’s Mackay Park to life, and a fiery steward of the city’s resources. He was also a wonderful father and friend, known for his generosity, wit, humor, and frank opinions, which he gave without reservation.

Mary Patricia Murphy, age 92, of Teaneck, formerly of West New York passed away on August 12. Beloved wife of the late John Joseph Murphy. Devoted mother of John Michael Murphy. Loving grandmother of Aislinn Saragoza and Orla Murphy. Mary worked as a Nurse for many years; she loved helping her community. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Merle Helene Fenderson’s Legacy

Merle was born on August 18, 1939 to Ethel and William J. Fenderson in Brooklyn, NY. She attended Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, NJ where she joyously sang with the high school chorus. She lived in Fort Lee, NJ since the mid-70s.

Merle is survived by her loving brother William (Bill) and his wife Claudia, her niece Dawn and husband Jonathan Peretz, her nephews Robert Stackhouse and wife Sarah, William (Billy) Fenderson and his partner Shauna, and Thomas Fenderson and wife Michelle. She is also survived by her grand-niece Danielle Martin and husband Bryce and their daughter Aniyah and grand-nephew Robert Stackhouse.

Merle was extremely gregarious and quickly became friends with everyone she met. She had many close lifelong friends and some of her most cherished friendships were with her Linwood Park Apartment family. She loved being there for them and was ever so grateful for how they always supported and assisted her.

Merle had a variety of workforce experiences throughout her life including being a travel agent. This allowed her to follow through on one of her passions and she traveled throughout the world.

Merle loved living life to the fullest. She was a fiercely independent woman who lived life on her own terms. She was the life of any and every party. She loved entertaining and having wine parties while watching Columbo. All of her friends were aware of her adventures as she shared them on...

Grace Lagomarsino (nee Barbetta) of Naples, Florida, formerly of Jupiter, Florida and Union City, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8,2026 at the age of 99.

Grace is survived by Daughters Lynn Lagomarsino (Bruce Raimy) of Naples Fl. and Diane(David )Wilcomes of Upper Saddle River, NJ; Daughter-in-Law Christina Lagomarsino of Randolph, NJ: Grandchildren Michael (Audra) DiNanno, Marc(Jill) DiNanno, Dana Wilcomes, Christopher Lagomarsino and Samantha Lagomarsino: Great-grandchildren Giavanna, Santino and Lucas DiNanno. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, Jr. and son Victor III.

Grace was born on February 13,1926 and was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. Upon graduation from Dickinson High School Grace worked in an office environment until she met the love of life, Victor on a blind date in his “canary yellow” convertible.

Grace married Victor Lagomarsino on June 3,1951 and they took up residence in Union City, New Jersey. For over 72 years they served as an example of what marriage and life together represents. As Victor managed his company, Grace devoted herself to her family as well as serving as a Bookkeeper at New Jersey Soap. She was very active in the Holy Rosary Mother’s Guild and each year she organized the “Annual Ravioli Dinner” to raise funds for the school.

Rita M. Nichols (nee Conzemius) entered eternal life on August 5, 2026, in her ninety-sixth year. Born in Hastings, Minnesota on August 29, 1930, Rita was the daughter of George and Marguerite Conzemius. Rita grew up on the family farm in rural Cannon Falls, Minnesota. She was a graduate of Hastings High School. Throughout her youth, along with her parents, brothers, and sisters, Rita was very active in the Minnesota 4-H club where she won state championships. Rita earned her college degree from the University of Minnesota and was a third-grade elementary school teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in Rochester, Minnesota for many years.

It was in Minnesota that Rita met the love of her life and best friend Francis C. Nichols, Jr., M.D. They were married on July 6, 1957. Rita and Francis lived many years first in Wood-Ridge, N.J., followed by Oradell, N.J. They successfully raised eight children. While most of Rita’s life was spent in New Jersey, her Minnesota “roots” were always evident in her everyday life with her devotion to the Minnesota Gophers, Vikings, and Twins and green thumb in the yard. She was quick to remind her family that it was always a good corn crop in the Midwest if the corn was “knee high by the Fourth of July.” Her children fondly remember annual summer trips to the family farm in Minnesota which continues as an active fifth generation family farm today.
