Mr. Robert (Bob) Thomas Sarvis, age 78, passed away on Friday October 23, 2026. Bob was born on March 18,1948 in Bronx N.Y. to James and Edna Sarvis. Born and raised in the Bronx, he was a longtime resident of Dumont NJ. He will be remembered for his humor, sarcasm, and love of dancing and singing karaoke.
He is survived by devoted wife, Francia Sarvis; his three children, Michele, Christine, and Kenny; his eight grandchildren, Bryana, Brittany, Jayde, Dylan, Madison, Miya, Jordan and Kacie; and his four great- grandchildren, Kayden, Ella, Aaliyah and Elena. He is also survived by his brother Donald. He was predeceased by his siblings Nancy, June, Winifred, Mary, John, Mickey, Diane and Barbara.
Robert was a hardworking man who held many different positions throughout his life. He worked for Frito-Lay, Haverstraw Transit, Red and Tan bus co., and most recent Valley Transportation, N.J. He also generously volunteered his time with the Haverstraw Ambulance Corp.
Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Monday, October 26,2026, from 4-8 p.m. at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell NJ. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 27m 2026, at 10a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 280 Washington Ave., Dumont NJ.

Ramon Sarraga Jr. was a proud son of the South Bronx, a place he
loved and always held close to his heart. Proud of his Puerto Rican
heritage, Ramon never forgot where he came from.
Growing up, Ramon developed a love for football that took him
from high school to Pace University, where he continued playing.
He later built a career in construction, working for prominent
companies throughout New York and New Jersey.
If you knew Ramon, you knew he had a personality of his own.
He was witty, charming, protective, and someone who always had
something insightful to say. He could make you laugh, give you
tough love, or leave you thinking about a conversation long after it
ended.
Whether he was playing pool, spending time with his people, or
simply enjoying a good conversation, Ramon valued the people
around him. Family meant everything to him. He took care of his
own, provided for his loved ones, and made sure the people closest
to him knew they could count on him.
Ramon leaves behind his beloved wife, Karen; his daughter,
Aminah; his sons, Adam, Eric, and Jalen; his grandson, Isaac
Luca, and his two sisters Gilly and Wilma. Along with an extended
family that loved him dearly. He will be deeply missed by the
people who loved him, laughed with him, and were lucky enough
to be part of his life.
His stories, his humor, his wisdom, and the memories he leaves
behind will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends.

Mr. Joseph (Joe) Louis Cosentino, age 101, formerly of Paramus, passed away on October 19, 2026 at Van Dyk Assisted Living in Hawthorne, NJ. He was born on December 12, 1924, and grew up in West New York, NJ. Joe is survived by his daughter, Nancy A. Finelli, son, Joseph and spouse, Fred Wolinsky, and his grandchildren Carla and spouse, Carlos Noriega, and Chris Finelli and spouse, Nancy M. Finelli, and his 4 great-grandchildren, Sophia Noriega, Liliana Noriega, Christopher James Finelli and Ava Grace Finelli. Joe is predeceased by his wife of 77 years, Carmela (Connie) Leo Cosentino, and his siblings Michael, Romeo, Juliet, and Arthur Cosentino. A Navy veteran and war hero, Joe was stationed in Japan during World War II, where he barely escaped a bomb that destroyed half of his ship, garnering him a medal of honor. Joe worked as a Foreman at Otis Elevator and later as Chief of Security at Colgate. He was also a Cub Scout master, Little League umpire, and a lifetime member of the Waldwick American Legion and Paramus Senior Citizen club. Family and friends are invited for a visitation on Friday, October 23, 2026 from 4-8 PM at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell NJ. The committal service and entombment will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Garden of Memories Mausoleum in Washington Township at 11:30 AM. With profound sadness and hearts filled with love, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Natividad Peña, who departed this life on October 15, 2026, at the age of 68.

Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Natividad was a woman of remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and a generous heart. She lived her life with passion, determination, and a vibrant spirit that touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Natividad was known for her strong will, wonderful sense of humor, outgoing personality, and caring nature. She had a way of making people laugh, making them feel welcome, and showing her love through both words and actions. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she found great joy in bringing family and friends together.

A gifted cook, Natividad expressed much of her love through the meals she lovingly prepared. Her kitchen was a place where memories were made, stories were shared, and loved ones gathered. She also had a deep appreciation for the arts and the beauty and creativity they brought into her life.

Faith was an important foundation of Natividad’s life. For much of her life, she was deeply devoted to her church, finding purpose, fellowship, and strength in her spiritual community. Her faith was a meaningful part of who she was and how she lived.

Katherine Restaino Dick died peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2026. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bernard F. Dick, Professor Emeritus of Communication and English at Fairleigh Dickinson University (Teaneck campus), her sister Patricia Ann and her husband Ken Bergeron, her niece Suzy and her husband Steve Dakoulas, two great nieces and a great nephew. Katherine graduated from Good Counsel College and went on to receive an MA and Ph.D. from Fordham University in English. Early in her career she moved into administration, first at Good Counsel where she was President and later Dean, and then at St. Peter's where she established a branch campus at Englewood Cliffs and later as Dean of the Evening Division at St. Peter's College (now St. Peter's University) in Jersey City. She retired in 2011 and became an adjunct professor of English and Communication at Fairleigh Dickinson University (Teaneck campus), Katherine was a regular operagoer and an avid reader, especially of mysteries, of which she acquired a vast collection.

Hubert Vancer Holderman Jr., the son of Hubert Vancer Holderman Sr. and Catherine Drew Holderman, entered this world on December 9, 1937, and departed on October 14, 2026. They lived first in Manhattan and later moved to the Bronx. His family called him Vancer; most friends called him Van. In The Bronx, he graduated from Samuel Gompers High School. He was also particularly proud of the time that he spent as a camper at The Mission Society of New York City’s Camp Minisink in Port Jervis, New York. His involvement continued throughout adulthood as an alumnus.
Van was first employed by Con Edison before being hired by New York Telephone, now known as Verizon. As he described the sequence of events, things moved quickly. No sooner had he bought a new car and started a new job than he was promptly drafted into the United States Army. After fulfilling that duty and being Honorably Discharged, he returned to Verizon and took courses to further his skills. He was employed by Verizon for over forty years. His final position was as a Central Office Technician, and in the years closer to his retirement, he was Verizon’s employee with the most seniority in this position.
Van loved to travel and involved himself in organizing travel groups. He explored both domestic and international destinations. It was on a local New York City boat excursion he had organized that he met his future beloved wife, Sherrell. He found a true soulmate in their mutual love of travel...

Harlin Walter Reese, 96, of Goodhue, formerly of Oradell, New Jersey, died Friday, October 9, 2026 at Goodhue Living Community. He was born March 18, 1930 in Goodhue to Arthur and Amanda (Lohmeyer) Reese. He grew up in Goodhue and graduated from Goodhue High School in 1947. After graduation he attended Dunwoody Institute where he learned a trade. He went on to become a very skilled carpenter and woodworker. He served in the U.S. Army where in was stationed in New Jersey. While there, he met his wife Dorothy and the couple was married in 1955. After a brief stay in Goodhue, the couple moved to Oradell to raise their family.

Harlin owned and operated his own carpentry and cabinetry business over the years. He owned Wood Artisans and Norwood Kitchens for many years. He and his family loved playing cards. He had a sixth sense when it came to card games and he was a formidable Bridge and Pinochle player, as well a coveted Euchre partner. He loved farming – Goodhue was always close to his heart. He substituted his tractor for a John Deere ride-on lawnmower. In Oradell he satisfied his green thumb with an incredible garden.

Most of all Harlin loved his family. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and looked forward to family gatherings. He lived his faith. He always prioritized helping others. He spent years raising funds and his own hammer to remodel and improve his home churches in both Paramus and Goodhue. His...

If you know my Dad, he's probably shown up for you somehow. He's mowed your lawn or blown your snow. He's fixed or built something for your house. He taught you something. He learned your track in a day to cover your show.
My Dad loved music. One of his hobbies in recent years was scouring the earth for CDs, "ripping them" onto his computer, and uploading them to his phone. We have easily 1000 CDs, organized neatly in alphabetical order in cartons in the basement. He was perpetually listening to his entire catalogue on shuffle. No matter the genre, he got so amped for a good song.
He loved Batman and Spiderman. He enjoyed stupid cartoons, like Pinky and the Brain. He loved The Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, James Bond, Jack Reacher, Star Wars, but especially Star Trek. He wanted to be Captain James Kirk when he grew up, but in my opinion he did better than that.
He was funny. He was so f # # # # # # funny. And he loved to laugh, and his laugh was better than sunshine. Right on par with how good his bear hugs were.
I could keep going, and I will. But not here.
Everyone keeps asking if they can do anything, what Ma and I need. You can:
Go help somebody today. Be five minutes early (or you're ten minutes late). Have a glass of brandy. Tell your kids a story about something wild you did in your 20s. Don't take anyone's s # # #. And if you've got one, tell me and Ma a story about Tommy Ferguson.

Margaret A. Gobo (nee Santoro), of New Milford,NJ formerly of Fairview, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026 at the age of 79, surrounded by the family she loved more than life itself.

Born on July 30, 1947 to Michael Santoro and Margaret Santoro(nee DeMatteo), she was the beloved wife of Giordano Gobo, with whom she shared nearly 58 years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on family, tradition, laughter, and love.

She was the devoted mother of Michele and her husband Frank DiIorgi and Tanya and her husband Jim Prendergast, and the proudest grandmother of Michael DiIorgi and his wife, Stela, Matthew DiIorgi and his wife Gianna and Nicholas DiIorgi and his girlfriend Brooke. Joseph Prendergast, Kayla Prendergast and Alexa Prendergast. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and “Grandma” was her favorite title of all.

Known by many names including Mommy, Marge, Margie, Little Margie, Bootso and Pork/Chop, she was, to her family, simply Mom and Grandma. She had many talents; she was an amazing baker, artist, teacher and gifted writer but her greatest works were the family she nurtured and the traditions she created.
