Some people come into your life and change the entire direction of it without ever realizing it.
I met Carissa long before either of us were where we are today. We were both clerks together at Michigan Medicine in the Emergency Department. At the time, she was enrolled in the accelerated nursing program at Eastern Michigan University, and I remember watching her determination, her work ethic, and her drive. She lit a fire in me.
Because of her, I followed that same path and enrolled in the accelerated nursing program at Eastern too.
I watched her become a nurse, then I became a nurse. 😂
I watched her become a travel nurse. Then I became a travel nurse. 😂
I watched her build a successful lash & brow business, evolve into IV Hydration, and eventually grow into aesthetics with Botox, wellness injections and more. Then she sold it all and traveled the world!!! 🌎
Through every season of life, she has been a mentor, an inspiration, and someone whose guidance I have always valued. She has cheered me on, answered questions, pointed me in the right direction, and helped me navigate some of the biggest decisions in my career.
Today, after all these years, she still trusts me with her Botox treatments, and that is something I never take for granted.
Carissa, thank you for showing me what is possible. Thank you for your strength, your leadership, your friendship, and for inspiring me long before I ever believed I could do any of this.
Some role models become mentors. Some mentors become friends. I’m lucky enough to call you both. 🤍 Some day, when you plant roots again I want you on my team!
