Our hearts go out to the family and friends of a 17-year-old Gainesville High School student who tragically died this morning.

Gainesville School District sent the following email to parents today:
“It is with great sadness that I share that one of our students has died. Our thoughts are with the student’s family and friends during this difficult time. We know this news may be upsetting for many students. When school resumes, counselors and support staff will be available to help students process their feelings and provide support. We encourage you to talk with your child, listen to their concerns, and reassure them that help is available. If your child is struggling, please reach out to the school so we can support them. We will continue to prioritize the well-being of our students and staff and will share additional updates as appropriate.”

Editor’s note: Due to his age as a juvenile, the name will not be released by law enforcement and hasn’t been officially released by the school or other entity, therefore we are not able to include it here. We extend our sincere condolences to all who knew him.
