The excitement of the New Year has worn off, its still cold, grey and snowy. If your energy is low- you are not alone! This is the peak of "late winter blues"!
Here is a mental health toolkit for the final stretch of winter:
1. Light up your day 😎: Even if its cloudy, 10-15 minutes of natural light in the morning helps reset your circadian clock. If not, consider a light therapy box
2. Move for Mood 🏋️♀️: Endorphins are essential right now. A 10- minute walk, a virtual yoga class or stretching in the living room counts.
3. Stay Connected ☎️: It's tempting to isolate, but social connection is a huge mood booster. Plan a cozy, low-stakes coffee chat or phone call with a friend.
4. Small things to look forward to 🤩: Plan one small thing for each day- a warm drink, a favorite show or time with a furry friend.
If the winter blues feel more like persistent hopelessness, please reach out. Therapy is a great space to navigate these feelings.
