Some goodbyes leave paw prints on our hearts forever. 🐾

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the most difficult moments a family can face. When that time comes at EPIC, we want their final moments—and the memories you take home with you—to be treated with compassion and care.

Upon request, our team can create ink paw and nose prints after euthanasia, giving families a small but deeply personal piece of their pet to keep. Each print is uniquely theirs—from the shape of their paw pads to the tiny details of their nose. ❤️

For families looking for another way to memorialize their pet, Miss Megan Studio creates custom hand-painted pet portraits from your favorite photos. Information is available in our lobby, or you can learn more at missmeganstudio.com.

Because sometimes the smallest details become the ones we treasure most.

Parvovirus is a highly contagious virus that primarily affects younger pets due to their weaker immune systems. Dogs can contract parvo by sniffing, licking, or ingesting infected f***s, contaminated objects, or even by coming into contact with shoes or clothing that have been in contact with the virus.

If your dog is experiencing severe vomiting, diarrhea (often bloody), dehydration, or showing signs of a weakened immune system, they may have contracted the virus.

Don’t wait! Give us a call in case of emergency. We are trained and equipped to handle cases large or small: 951-695-5044.

Sometimes a good chew turns into an unexpected trip to the ER. 🦴😬

This pup came to EPIC with a bone lodged around his lower jaw. The circular piece had become trapped behind his canine teeth, leaving him unable to remove it on his own.

To keep him safe and comfortable, our team used sedation while carefully removing the bone. Thankfully, it came off successfully.

While bones may seem like a natural treat for dogs, they aren’t without risk. They can become lodged around the jaw or in the mouth, break teeth, cause choking, or become foreign bodies within the gastrointestinal tract.

🦴 If something becomes stuck in your pet’s mouth or around their jaw, don’t try to forcefully remove it at home. A painful or frightened pet may bite, and attempting removal can cause additional injury. Contact your veterinarian or an emergency hospital for help.

Chocolate might be a treat for us, but for our dogs, it can become an emergency. 🍫🐾

Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, two substances dogs metabolize much more slowly than humans. Depending on the type and amount of chocolate eaten and the size of the dog, ingestion can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, restlessness, a rapid heart rate, tremors, seizures, and other serious complications.

And not all chocolate carries the same risk—the darker and more concentrated the chocolate, the greater the potential toxicity.

Swipe through to learn what makes chocolate dangerous, signs of toxicity to watch for, and what to do if your dog gets into the chocolate stash.

🚨 If your pet eats chocolate, don’t wait for symptoms to appear. Contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital as soon as possible. Having the type of chocolate, approximate amount eaten, your pet’s weight, and estimated time of ingestion can help determine the level of concern.

Parvo is serious—but treatment options are advancing. 🐾

Canine parvovirus can cause severe vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and potentially life-threatening illness, especially in young or unvaccinated dogs.

Now, there’s another tool available in the fight against parvo: Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody (CPMA).

Unlike supportive care alone, this treatment is designed to target canine parvovirus directly, helping neutralize the virus while the patient receives the supportive care they need to recover.

EPIC Vets carries CPMA as part of our treatment options for eligible parvo patients.

Swipe through to learn more about parvo, the signs to watch for, prevention, and how treatment options are evolving.

❤️ If you suspect your dog may have parvo, contact a veterinarian immediately. Early veterinary care is important.

Proudly private. Proudly local. Proudly EPIC. ❤️

EPIC Vets is a privately owned, independent emergency and critical care hospital—and that’s something we’re proud of.

Being independently owned allows decisions to be made right here, by people who know our hospital, our team, our patients, and the veterinary community we work alongside every day.

It gives us the flexibility to grow, adapt, invest in our team and technology, and make thoughtful decisions based on the needs of the pets and people we serve.

Most importantly, it allows us to stay deeply connected to the community we call home—including the incredible local veterinary teams who trust us with their patients when emergency or critical care is needed.

We’re proud to be independent. We’re proud to be part of this community. And we’re proud to be here when you need us—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Reminiscing on those cool, early morning spring walks. 🐕🌿

While the “dog days of summer” may technically be over, it’s still plenty hot outside! Exposure to extreme heat can quickly become dangerous and lead to a life-threatening emergency: heatstroke.

Knowing how to prevent heatstroke—and recognizing the signs early if it does happen—can make all the difference.

Prevention Tips ☀️🥵

💧 Fresh Water: Keep bowls filled with cool, fresh water and bring water along on walks.

🌅 Timed Walks: Schedule outdoor activity for early morning or late evening to avoid peak heat and hot pavement.

🚗 No Cars: Never leave your pet unattended in a vehicle, even with the windows cracked or for just a few minutes.

❄️ Shade & AC: Provide access to air conditioning, fans, and shaded outdoor resting areas. Avoid enclosed spaces like stuffy dog houses that can trap heat.

🐶 High-Risk Pets: Take extra precautions with senior pets, overweight pets, and flat-faced breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs, and French Bulldogs.
