Sometimes your body chooses your 5-Minute Nourish for you. 🤍

I was really sick last weekend, and apparently my body had decided we were done. 😂 No productivity. No squeezing in a few emails from bed. No trying to make the day useful.

Just sleep. Rest. Cancel things. Accept help. And stop negotiating with a body that was very clearly saying NOPE.

I think we sometimes approach being sick with the same mentality we bring to everything else: How quickly can I get better so I can get back to my life?
And of course I did things to support my body.
But maybe part of supporting it is also recognizing when it needs us to simply get out of the way and let it recover.

So this week’s wasn’t five minutes at all. It was an entire weekend.
Apparently that counts too. 🤍
And yes…you may still be able to hear the remnants of it in my voice. 😂

I’m always asked what I’m doing for my own health… so here’s one of the things I’ve been trying lately:
NAD+. 💉
I’ve been experimenting with NAD+ injections for a little while now, and there are a few times I’ve found myself reaching for them.
✨ Energy: I’ve noticed a nice boost when I’m feeling depleted.
🧠 Brain function: I feel like my brain is a little more “online,” especially on those foggier days.
🤧 When I feel something coming on: This has probably been the most interesting one for me. I’ve taken a shot when I feel that very beginning of a cold coming on, and a few times I’ve felt like it helped lessen what followed or the symptoms never really come out.

NAD+ is a molecule naturally present in our cells and plays an important role in cellular energy production, mitochondrial function and DNA repair, which is part of why it has become such an interesting area in wellness and longevity.

And because I know someone will ask 😂 yes, we now have NAD+ injections available at Nourish for in office shots and home kits!

Have you tried NAD+? What did you notice?

5-Minute Nourish this week is about something I DIDN’T do. 🤍

After Evy went to bed, I had work I could have done.
There’s always another email. Another project. Another thing I could finish. And if I’m being productive, it’s very easy for me to convince myself that I should just keep going.

But this week, I decided I was done for the day.
And it made me think about how often we turn self-care into yet another thing on our to-do list: Meditate. Exercise. Meal prep. Journal. Get outside. Do all the healthy things. 😂

Sometimes nourishing yourself isn’t about adding one more thing. Sometimes it’s closing the laptop and deciding: Enough has been done for today.

So that’s my 5 Minute Nourish this week. I didn’t use those five minutes to accomplish anything.
I gave them back to myself. 🤍

What could you give yourself permission not to do today?

Breastfeeding Month felt like the perfect time to pull this recipe back out. 🤍
When I was breastfeeding, I was doing approximately 10 different things at once to support my milk supply 😂 and these lactation cookies were one of them.

Did the cookies single-handedly make milk? No. But they were an easy, nourishing snack during a season when I was constantly thinking about feeding my baby, pumping, hydration, supply… and whether I was doing enough.

And they’re actually really good.
They’re gluten free + dairy free, which was especially important to me while navigating food sensitivities with my baby. And apparently they passed the non-lactating-person test too, because my husband made them for me and then proceeded to eat quite a few himself. 😂

Oats, flaxseed meal and brewer’s yeast make these a classic lactation-cookie recipe, but mostly I loved having something easy to grab when I needed to remember to feed myself, too.

If you’re in the thick of breastfeeding right now: I know how much pressure can come with feeding your baby. There is no one food, supplement, pumping schedule—or perfect way of doing this—that determines how good of a mom you are. 🤍

Save this recipe for postpartum or send it to a mama who could use a batch.

Full recipe is on the Nourish blog. 🍪

Vacation is for relaxing… and sometimes apparently for testing the limits of your digestive system. 😂✈️

Travel Kit Part 3: Nux vomica
This is one of my favorite homeopathic remedies to have on hand when vacation involves a little too much: too much rich food, too much alcohol, indigestion, nausea, or that lovely travel constipation that nobody puts on the itinerary.

Basically: “I had a great time last night and my body has regrets.” 😆

Nux vomica has earned its place in the travel kit for a reason.

Because vacation should be about enjoying yourself, not spending the next day wishing you hadn’t. 🌴

Available as part of our Nourish Travel Kit.

This week’s 5 Minute Nourish isn’t really about adding something to your day.
It’s about letting something go. 🤍

Yesterday, my schedule was completely thrown off — and as someone who really likes a plan, that can leave me feeling scattered and stressed pretty quickly.

Instead of spending the day trying to get back to what it was “supposed” to look like, I tried something different:
I let the day become the day it was going to be.

No fighting the schedule.
No dwelling on what didn’t happen.
No trying to catch back up to some imaginary version of the day I had planned.
Just...pivot.

Sometimes nourishing yourself means taking a walk, breathing for five minutes, or doing something just for you.

And sometimes it means giving yourself permission to stop fighting what already changed.

You can pivot and still have a good day. 🤍

🌿 Five Minute Nourish
Yesterday, before I started seeing patients, I closed my office door for five minutes.

No phone.
No email.
No to-do list.

Just a few deep breaths and calming music.

It reminded me that self-care doesn’t always have to happen before sunrise or after Evy is asleep.

Sometimes it’s five intentional minutes between the busyness of life and the work you’re about to do.

I walked into my first appointment feeling calmer, more grounded, and more present…and that’s exactly the kind of doctor I want to be.

✨ What’s one small thing that helps you reset during your day?
