If breastfeeding feels harder than expected, it’s easy to assume something bigger is going on.

But often, it comes down to positioning.

How your baby is supported at the breast can affect how well they latch, how comfortable feeding feels, and how efficiently they’re able to feed.

These signs are common — and often fixable with small adjustments.

If you’re noticing any of these during feeds and aren’t sure what to change, it’s worth taking a closer look.

If you have questions or want help working through what you’re seeing, we’re here to support you.

Many parents are told that breastfeeding might be uncomfortable at first — but over time, it should start to feel more manageable and consistent.

Comfortable.
Rhythmic.
Supported.
Sustainable.

If it doesn’t feel that way, it’s worth paying attention.

That doesn’t always mean something is wrong, but it can be a sign that something during the feeding could be adjusted or better supported.

Sometimes it’s a small shift.

Sometimes it takes a closer look to understand what’s getting in the way.

Either way, how feeding feels matters.

If your latch feels off, it’s easy to assume something bigger is going on.

But often, it comes down to a few small things during the feeding.

How your baby is positioned, how they come onto the breast, and how supported they feel can all impact how well they latch and stay latched.

These aren’t big changes — they’re small adjustments you can look at in real time.

If something hasn’t felt quite right, start here.

And if you’re not sure what you’re seeing or how to adjust, we can help you work through it.
