Monitoring your temperature is one of the oldest and simplest ways to track changes in your hormones and fertility, yet many women don’t realize how much it can reveal. 🌡️

Your basal body temperature (BBT) naturally shifts throughout your cycle in response to hormonal changes, particularly after ovulation when progesterone causes your temperature to rise. Tracking these patterns can provide valuable insight into what’s happening behind the scenes.

By charting your BBT daily, you can:

🌿 Confirm whether or not you’ve ovulated
🌿 Better understand the timing of your fertile window
🌿 Observe progesterone’s effect after ovulation
🌿 Recognize patterns in your menstrual cycle
🌿 Detect a sustained temperature rise that may be an early sign of pregnancy

Your body is always giving you valuable information. You just have to know what to look for.

Creatine users, take note. 📝

I personally use and recommend this supplement often because it has so many benefits. But here’s something not everyone knows...

If you’re having kidney labs drawn while taking creatine, it’s important to know that it can raise your creatinine level. That can make your kidney function look more concerning than it actually is, even when everything is functioning normally.

You may be able to avoid this by pausing creatine for 24–48 hours before your labs (make sure to check with your healthcare provider first).

Another option is asking whether a cystatin C test makes sense for you. Because it isn’t affected by creatine the way creatinine is, it can provide a clearer picture of your kidney function and help avoid unnecessary worry. 👍

Belly fat is not always a matter of discipline, but rather a deficiency in your hormones. 📉

It’s one of the most common complaints I hear from women in my office. They haven’t changed their diets or their workout routines, but suddenly they have more belly fat than they ever had before. This can be extremely frustrating. Hormones are usually at the root and that we can fix.

If estrogen is the problem, adrenal fatigue protocols aren’t going to be the answer.

They share many of the same symptoms including exhaustion, brain fog, low stress tolerance, poor sleep quality, mood changes, and weight gain, but the root cause is different and that distinction matters. When you’re on an adrenal protocol but your problem is a decline in estrogen, you’re essentially addressing the downstream effect, not the source.

Estrogen plays a big role in stress response. When your levels drop in perimenopause, cortisol becomes harder to regulate, your resilience tanks, and you feel exhausted in a way that supplementation and lifestyle changes can’t fix on their own.

This is why hormone labs are almost always my first step when women come in with these symptoms. More often than not, depleted hormones are the answer. This is a much more effective way to get to the root cause and can reveal so much more to a patient about what stage of life they’re in and what their body needs.

This month marks 10 years of practicing naturopathic medicine, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside so many patients through every stage of life. I’ve cared for young women learning how to regulate their cycles, celebrated with patients as they got married and welcomed babies, and helped women struggling with anxiety, poor sleep, and exhaustion navigate perimenopause and menopause so they could feel like themselves again.

Being invited into someone’s health journey is something I never take for granted. The relationships I’ve built over the last 10 years have been the most rewarding part of this work, and I’m thankful every single day for the opportunity to do what I love.

To those of you who have been with me since the beginning, and to those I’ve just had the chance to meet, thank you for trusting me with your health and allowing me to be a small part of your story. Here’s to the next 10 years. 💛🌿

I always love trying a new skincare product and this one is soooo good! The GHK-cu peptide (aka copper) and estriol combined in this serum create a powerhouse for boosting collagen.

After going through an entire bottle I can tell my skin is smoother and my fine lines are less noticeable, I’ll definitely be grabbing another one.

You can pick this up at Desert Wellness Center or order it online through my Fullscript at the link in my bio. 👆
