Hewett-Arney Funeral Home opened in 2008 in the historic Hewett Funeral Home building, built in 1942, by Justin and Amanda Arney. The Hewett's had operated a funeral home in Temple since 1911 and moved to their "new" location on Barton Ave. in 1942. Hewett-Arney offers funerals, memorials and cremation services at an affordable price. Hewett-Arney wants to make the process of planning a loved ones end of life services as easy as possible by showing sympathy and compassion. Hewett-Arney also offer pre-arrangements. Pre-arrangement is a great way to plan "your" end of life care or the end of life care for a loved one. Pre-arranging a funeral, memorial or cremation locks in today's prices for tomorrows events. Hewett-Arney is no stranger to heartbreak. In February of 2013 Justin Arney passed away at the age of 36 after a year long battle with cancer. Amanda, and Justin's mother Margaret, continue to keep Justin's dream alive by offering the same compassion to families that he showed. Justin's dream will go on for years to come.

After many years of effort, these books have finally found their way back home. Containing over 86 years worth of remarkable funeral history, they represent not only the legacy of Hewett Mortuary, now Hewett-Arney Funeral Home, but also an important part of the history of the City of Temple.

Our hope is to have the collection cataloged and added to the Temple Library in the near future, where it will become a valuable resource for historians, genealogists, and members of the community alike.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Dominic Holsome for helping make this possible after all these years.

I heard a new one today. Paul said that a lady told him that she would not do business with us because she did not like the attic vent on top of our building. That attic vent has been on top of our building since 1941, I believe she's probably the first person in 83 years that has ever said she would not patronize our business because of the attic vent. LOL
