🕘 Your Liver Works Around the Clock.
Here are two ways to help protect it over time and lower your risk of liver cancer.

1. Get vaccinated against hepatitis B, and get tested and treated for hepatitis B and C. Treating these infections can significantly reduce the risk of developing liver cancer.
2. Make healthy lifestyle choices. Avoid smoking or va**ng, limit alcohol, choose nutritious foods, maintain a healthy weight and stay physically active.

Know your risk factors. Fatty liver disease is now one of the leading causes of liver disease and liver cancer, and new treatments are available. Know your family history, and ask your doctor if liver cancer screening is recommended.

While your liver is busy processing nutrients, removing waste and toxins, supporting digestion and performing hundreds of other essential functions, these steps help support its health.

At Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center, our Liver Tumor Clinic brings hepatologists, surgeons, oncologists and interventional specialists together twice a week to review each patient's care.

Back on the Peloton bike—one year after a heart transplant. ❤️

In July 2025, Ashley, an avid runner and athlete, developed ventricular tachycardia and cardiogenic shock. In an emergency, she was placed on temporary life support before receiving a lifesaving heart transplant performed by Daniel Goldstein, MD, Vice Chairman, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery and Surgical Director of Cardiac Transplantation, and team.

Afterward, Ashley and her longtime cardiologist, J. Julia Shin, MD, made a pact: one year later, they would take a Peloton class together.

This summer, they clipped in—joined by members of the Montefiore Einstein team, family, and friends all there to celebrate how far she's come.

One year. One promise kept. One unforgettable ride.
