“Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS)” has been renamed “Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS)” to better reflect how this condition can affect hormonal, metabolic, and reproductive health—not just the ovaries.

PMOS may be associated with:
- Excess hair growth or hair thinning
- Hypertension
- Insulin resistance
- Irregular periods
- Ovulation and fertility challenges
- Weight and cholesterol changes

At Montefiore Einstein, our Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility team understands that PMOS can affect every patient differently and provides personalized care and support tailored to each patient’s needs.

While the terminology has evolved, the goal remains the same: helping patients receive earlier diagnoses, better understand their health risks, and access care sooner.

Healthy vision helps you enjoy everyday moments—from reading a favorite book to seeing vibrant colors and spending time with loved ones.

If colors seem duller, headlights create more glare at night, or reading has become more difficult, cataracts may be the cause. Cataracts occur when the eye’s natural lens becomes cloudy, affecting how clearly you see.

Here’s what to look out for:
👁️ Blurry or cloudy vision
🌈 Faded or yellowed colors
🚗 Increased glare from headlights or sunlight
📖 Difficulty reading or seeing clearly at night
👓 Frequent changes in eyeglass prescriptions

Cataracts are treatable, and early detection can help protect your vision. Know the signs.

What snoring could be telling you.

A good night's sleep is essential for overall health—but loud, chronic snoring may be a sign of something more.

Sleep apnea is a common condition that causes breathing to repeatedly stop and start during sleep. Left untreated, it may increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and other health concerns.

If you or a loved one snores regularly or is having poor quality sleep, it may be worth talking to a doctor—especially if snoring is accompanied by:
😴 Excessive daytime fatigue
💤 Gasping or choking during sleep
🧠 Difficulty concentrating
❤️ High blood pressure

Sleep apnea is treatable, with a variety of treatment options and devices available depending on your needs. In addition to CPAP therapy, newer options such as Inspire® therapy may be available for some patients. Getting evaluated is the first step toward finding the treatment that's right for you—and toward better sleep and better health.
