This year marks 5 years as a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS), and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve individuals recovering from brain injury every day.

Brain injury rehabilitation is about so much more than improving communication and cognition. It’s about helping people regain confidence, rebuild independence, reconnect with loved ones, and return to the life that matters most.

More than 2 million Americans are living with aphasia, yet most people have never heard of it.

Aphasia is a communication disorder that can impact a person’s ability to speak, understand language, read, and write. It most commonly occurs after a stroke or brain injury and can affect every aspect of daily life, relationships, and independence.

🌟 The good news: recovery doesn’t stop after the first few months. Research shows that individuals with aphasia can continue making meaningful improvements months and even years after their injury with the right support, rehabilitation, and education.
