I had the pleasure of attending the Louisiana Birth and Beyond Convening, hosted by The Amandla Group, LLC in Alexandria, LA.
Thank you to Frankie, Kiley, and the entire team for creating such a phenomenal experience. It was an honor to be in community with such a diverse group of people from across Louisiana, all gathered with the same purpose in mind: improving maternal health.
Throughout the convening, individuals shared lived experiences, ideas, ongoing challenges, and possible solutions for improving collaborative maternal health care with mental health being an important part of the conversation. I especially appreciated the opportunity to connect, learn, and think more deeply about how we can continue creating systems of care that truly support mothers and families.
One of the things I appreciated most was the intentional decision to prioritize childcare. As a mom, being able to comfortably and confidently engage while knowing my baby was safe and cared for meant so much. Thank you to the ladies of Bsc Providers for your kindness, care, and support.
This is what centering motherhood looks like. Creating spaces for mothers also means considering what they need in order to fully show up and be present.
I can’t thank everyone enough for such an unforgettable experience. I left feeling encouraged, connected, and even more committed to continuing the work of changing how we care for maternal health and mental health across Louisiana.
