🩸 SEPTEMBER IS BLOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Blood cancer is not just one disease. It includes leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and other cancers that affect the blood, bone marrow and lymphatic system.

The numbers remind us just how many families are touched by these diseases.

In the United States in 2026, the American Cancer Society estimates:

❤️ 67,790 people will be diagnosed with leukemia. (American Cancer Society)
❤️ 79,320 people will be diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. (American Cancer Society)
❤️ 36,000 people will be diagnosed with multiple myeloma. (American Cancer Society)
❤️ Another 8,920 people will be diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. (American Cancer Society)

Those numbers are significant but behind every statistic is a person. A family. A story.

There are patients beginning treatment, survivors celebrating another milestone, caregivers walking beside someone they love, and families remembering someone they wish were still here.

This Blood Cancer Awareness Month, we honor them all.

May continued research bring better treatments, longer lives and, one day, cures.

Awareness. Support. Hope. ❤️

🎗️ CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Of all the causes we will recognize this September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month holds an especially personal place in our hearts.

Our family knows firsthand how quickly childhood cancer can change everything.

When Mark’s granddaughter; Victoria’s daughter, Annabelle, was just four years old, she was diagnosed with high-risk B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. What followed were years of chemotherapy, hospital stays, procedures, medications, side effects, fear, prayers, and more courage than any four-year-old should ever have to find.

Childhood cancer became more than something we heard about. It became part of our family’s story.

We watched Annabelle fight. We watched her find reasons to smile and play even on difficult days. And we watched an incredible community surround our family with love and prayer.

That experience changed all of us.

So when you see a gold ribbon this September, we hope you’ll remember that behind it is a child and a family whose world has been forever changed.

We honor the children who are fighting.
We celebrate the survivors.
We stand beside their families.
And we remember the precious children whose lives were taken far too soon.

For our family, we wear gold for Annabelle. 💛🎗️

And for every child and family who has heard the words no family ever expects to hear, we will always help shine a light on childhood cancer

đź’› WELCOME, SEPTEMBER đź’›

September is a month that brings awareness to many causes that touch the lives of families right here in our community.

Throughout the month, we’ll take time to recognize and support those affected by childhood cancer, blood cancers, Alzheimer’s disease, su***de prevention, ovarian and prostate cancers, sickle cell disease, and more.

Behind every ribbon is a person.
Behind every cause is a family.
And behind every family is a story worth recognizing.

This September, we hope to use our page for more than sharing information about our funeral home. We want it to be a place that celebrates our community, brings awareness to causes that matter, remembers those we have lost, and supports those who are still fighting.

💛 Here’s to a September filled with awareness, compassion, hope, and community.

As a funeral director, I spend much of my life thinking about something most people would rather not think about at all: how we say goodbye.

This week, millions of people are mourning Dolly Parton. Most of us never met her. We never sat at her kitchen table or received a phone call from her. Yet, somehow, she became part of our lives.

And it is perfectly okay to grieve someone you never knew personally.

Sometimes a person’s music carries us through a difficult season. Their words remind us of someone we love. Their kindness inspires us. Their story becomes woven into our own memories. When that person dies, we aren’t pretending to have known them; we are grieving the place they occupied in our lives.

Dolly Parton leaves behind far more than songs. She leaves a legacy of generosity, faith, laughter, determination, philanthropy, and a belief that where you come from never has to limit where you can go.

There is also something meaningful in knowing that she thought about her own final wishes ahead of time. Even someone whose life touched millions understood the importance of deciding how she wanted to be remembered and sparing those she loved from having to make every decision for her.

That, too, is part of leaving a legacy.

We may never have met Dolly Parton, but for many of us, it feels like we knew a little piece of her.

And sometimes, that’s more than enough reason to feel the loss.
