The Center for Pediatric Therapy

The Bayou regions only dedicated Pediatric Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapy clinic. Every child deserves to LEARN, LAUGH, and PLAY.

The Center for Pediatric Therapy offers individual and group therapy for children from birth to adolescence. We focus on play and movement to make it a fun place to be, while providing our young patients with the one-on-one care they need to develop and thrive. CPT is the only complete Therapy clinic in the area dedicated to serving the needs of children.

The Center for Pediatric Therapy has been celebrating World Breastfeeding Month this August through several events.

Caroline Blanchard, ST, Michele Bower, PT, and Sydney Thielman, OT participated in the Thibodaux General Breastfeeding event earlier this month. We enjoyed sharing how PT, OT and ST can assist with tongue ties, feeding difficulty, sensory challenges and torticollis with the new and expectant families.

Last Wednesday, CPT hosted a lunch and learn where our guests were Pam Folse, BSN, RNC-MNN, IBCLC and Olivia Cheramie RN, IBCLC of Breastfeeding Solutions. It was great to share processes and challenges throughout the referral process from lactation to therapy and to build more options to access opportunities.

We have added two new therapy techs, Anna Weimer and Kate Richardel, to our staff here this summer!
They are looking forward to learning more about their chosen therapy professions here at CPT while also having some amazingly fun times with our little buddies.

We are so excited to introduce you to Raene Hebert, SLP who has joined our CPT team!

She joins us after graduating from Southeastern in May with her Master’s in Speech Language Pathology. Raene will be working in the Houma and Thibodaux clinics and is super excited to meet all of our buddies!

We celebrated three of our team members this week as they move on to new adventures.

Deon is beginning his personal training career as he works towards OT school. The kids will undoubtedly be asking for him for months!

Hailey has finished her CFY year here at CPT and is heading to the Terrebonne Parish School system where she will continue to make a difference for so many of our buddies.

Abby is heading to Southeastern for their Speech Language Pathologist program. We are hoping to have her back in our area sooner than later !

We look forward to introducing the kiddos to our new team members next week!

We have lots of exciting things going on at CPT this month!

We are celebrating two birthdays this week for Ms. Hailey and Ms. Abbie!

We also said goodbye to Ms. Lindsay last week. Ms. Lindsay has been and amazing addition to CPT and has been working hard in our community to bring programs to our area that benefit our buddies. We will miss her but look forward to watching what she accomplishes in our area.

This cute buddy is sliding into therapy at CPT! 🤩👏🏼

DID YOU KNOW?! 💭
Playing on playground equipment like slides are great for development!! 🛝

1. Gross Motor Skills
-climbing the steps strengthens legs, and hips
-sliding down helps them coordinate movement and control their posture
-the repeated action of going up and down also reinforces bilateral coordination

2. Helps the Vestibular System
-the sensation of moving downward at speed, combined with sitting upright and stabilizing themselves, helps the brain learn how to process motion and maintain equilibrium

3. Helps Language
-promotes turn taking and teaches patience
-practices cause and effect
-elicits expressive language and utterances (e.g., go, stop, wait, weeee, up, down, etc.)
