Five years ago, I was gifted my first musical instrument—a cajon. At 29 years old, I had never played an instrument before, but I was determined to learn. It took over two years before I finally felt comfortable enough to get on stage for an open jam, but the feeling was better than any high I had ever experienced. Three weeks ago, at the campfire jam, I rocked four songs with the Moon Cats and other musicians from Camp Comfort. I was vibing really well on the cajon and wasn't worried about criticism. To my surprise, I received three compliments on how much I had improved lately. The gift of music is such a beautiful thing, and it is never too late to learn. I plan to keep learning and growing musically, and I am excited to begin integrating sound therapy into my massage practice. I am very thankful.
