We're excited to welcome the newest addition to the URMC family! ✨

Recently, our team got a behind-the-scenes look at the in-progress Mother/Baby Unit, thanks to Batson-Cook Construction. This new space will feature larger delivery and postpartum rooms, an expanded nursery, and a thoughtfully designed layout to support the highest level of obstetrical and neonatal care for our families.

We're thankful for West Central Georgia Bank's generous contribution to URMC through the Georgia HEART Program! ❤

West Central Georgia Bank President and CEO Eddie Rogers, EVP and CLO Kyle Stonecipher, and CFO Matt Adams presented the check to URMC CEO Dan Owens and CFO Jason Gassett. This donation will be used to support vital projects, such as the expansion of our Mother/Baby Unit.

Georgia HEART allows businesses, such as West Central Georgia Bank, and individuals to redirect their state income taxes to eligible rural hospitals in Georgia. By providing this avenue for qualifying hospitals to secure additional funding, Georgia HEART aims to improve Georgians’ access to comprehensive healthcare in rural communities.

Following up with what she thought were post-COVID symptoms, Florene “Damaris” Jordan made an appointment with Darryl Knight, M.D., FACS, at Upson Surgical Associates for a colonoscopy, which eventually led to her diagnoses of colorectal cancer.

Damaris found comfort in Dr. Knight’s knowledge and personability. He answered any questions she had and took the time to ensure she and her husband understood the treatment she would need.

Throughout the multiple surgeries she underwent, Damaris says she always felt well-taken care of by Dr. Knight and his team. 💙💚

Please join us in congratulating our newest DAISY Award recipient, Ashley Evans, LPN! 🎉

Ashley works in our Special Care Unit, where she is recognized and appreciated by her patients for always taking the time to listen to their needs, answering their questions thoroughly and with compassion, and responding quickly when they need help. ✨

One nominator shared, "Ashley, Ashley, Ashley...as my dad would say 'Honeybun' or 'Sug.' I don't have the words to describe what a blessing she was and is. She LISTENED and was patient, extremely caring towards my dad. Despite us being in the hospital, she made our stay as pleasant as it could be considering the circumstances. We will forever be appreciative."

Another person shared, "[Ashley is] very nice, compassionate, gentle and on top of everything. She was very confident in her job, which made us feel better. She kept me informed of everything she was doing. I have no idea how she would respond so fast when we would call her. She navigated our crazy family with such grace but firmly to make my mother's exit from this world beautiful. Everything she did was to make my mother comfortable. I can't even put into words how to thank her."

From surviving a heart attack to now thriving, William Deloach’s journey to recovery happened right here at home. 💙

After experiencing a heart attack in 2010, William did well for years—until chest pain brought him to Upson Cardiology in 2025.

The URMC Cath Lab team, led by Dr. Adeniyi, performed a groundbreaking procedure—implanting a CRT-D (cardiac resynchronization therapy with defibrillator) device to help his heart work more efficiently. 💗

William was the first patient in our Cath Lab to receive this procedure, and the results speak for themselves: his heart function improved from 15% EF (ejection fraction) to 45% EF within the first 90 days. ✨ Today, he’s at 51% EF.

“The Cath Lab has been really good to me,” William shared. “It’s remarkable the things they can do here.”

But for William, it’s not just the treatments that stand out—it’s the connection with the people providing his care.

While shopping at Walmart with his wife, William turned around to see Dr. Adeniyi and his family. “We’re standing in Walmart—my cardiologist and I are having a conversation, his wife and my wife are talking with their kids. You don’t get that anywhere else.”
