Donald David Fuller

Donald David Fuller, 71, left this world too soon in the early morning hours of April 27, 2026 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Brenda Fuller, and was also known as Papa, Juano and Freddy.

Raised in Thomaston, Don lived much of his life in Waterbury. At his passing, he resided in Oakville with his wife. They met at a newspaper party in 1991 and hit it off. It was a 35 year love affair.

Don possessed a dry wit. A lexophile, he loved books, and read voraciously, sometimes reading several books in a week. He had a passion for golf as well as sports including basketball, following the UConn Husky men's and women's basketball teams ,and rooting for the Mets. During the 1990s he helped run the first winter recreation basketball league in Thomaston. He also played in a golf league at Western Hills for many years.

In his youth, he worked at the family business, Fullers 5 & 10 in Thomaston. After graduating from Eastern Connecticut State University, he drove a cab in Las Vegas for five years during what he called “Jimmy Carter's recession.”

He spent most of his career working as a fifth grade teacher at Driggs School in Waterbury. Don also enjoyed teaching driver’s ed for The Next Street driving school during his retirement, being paid to tell people how to drive.

Don got his undergraduate degree in English from Eastern and a Masters of Teaching at Sacred Heart University.

He was also a lover of music, and he enjoyed many concerts. He especially liked musicians Tom Waits, Merle Haggard and Commander Cody.

He was funny and loyal and kind, the type of person people gravitated to.

Don and his wife traveled to Ireland, Iceland, Nova Scotia, Quebec, California, Maine and Seattle. He also joined his friends on golf trips to Hilton Head, Miami and Vermont. But his greatest joy was being home in Connecticut surrounded by his family and friends.

He also truly enjoyed being a grandfather to Jake and Layla, both of whom he was so proud.

Don was predeceased by his father, Revilo Fuller, his mother, Beatrice (Cunningham) Fuller, and his older brother, Peter, who passed away earlier this year. Besides his wife, he is survived by his stepson, Jason Soper (Krystal), his sister, Susan Fuller, his sister Margaret Protzman(Donald), his brother, Timothy Fuller, (Stacey) his sister in law, Joan Fuller, his grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends too many to count including, Ken Yaffee, Robert Stack and Robert DeRose, who all showed up for him as his health declined.

Don lived many years with alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency, an inherited disorder that contributes to COPD, a lung disease. Even as his health declined, he never complained and tried to live as normal a life as possible.

Visitation will be at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston, May 12th from 5 to 8 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am May 13th at St, Thomas Church, 1 East Main Street, Thomaston. Please meet directly at church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to National Public Radio www.npr.org/donations/support

Rosaleen Avery

Rosaleen (Burke) Avery of Torrington, CT passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026. She was 76 years old.

Rosaleen was born on June 25, 1949 in Derry, Northern Ireland, and was known to family and close friends affectionally as “Rose”. Rosaleen and her family moved to Belfast, Northern Ireland when she was a child, and she attended school there until her early adult years. Rosaleen was a proud Irish woman, and brought not only her heritage, but a lot of great Irish sayings everywhere she went. Rose was a devout Catholic and attended mass regularly, often several times per week in her later years.

In 1971, Rosaleen relocated to South Africa with her then-husband, Samuel, to pursue a life abroad. In 1975, Rosaleen returned to Belfast for a short period before emigrating to the United States in September of 1975. Rosaleen pursued a career in office administration and gave birth to her oldest child Conor in 1979, and to her youngest child Caolan in 1982.

In 1995, Rosaleen and her husband Kenneth were married in Northern Ireland, and settled in Thomaston, CT before ultimately retiring in Torrington, CT. Throughout their amazing 31-year marriage, Rosaleen and Ken enjoyed traveling back to Ireland to visit family, taking trips to the White Mountains, and hosting family and friends. One of their favorite past times included day trips in their convertible to explore the countryside of New England. Rosaleen was a devoted and loving wife, and the definition of hospitality. Her smile would liven the room, her food liven the soul, and her love liven the heart.

Rosaleen obtained many professional achievements, but found ultimate success and enjoyment working as a Human Resources Administrator for ITDS in Stamford, CT. This role allowed Rosaleen to demonstrate her natural desire to help people, a trait that she held near to her heart. Rose went on to win Employee of the Year multiple times over, showcasing her level of dedication to her career, and to her coworkers.

Rosaleen’s greatest passion in life was watching her children and grandchildren grow. Rose had a special place in her heart for children, as if nurturing was second-nature. She laughed with the laughs, knew how to ease the cries, and said just the right words to make everything seem ok. She was truly an amazing mother.

In her free time, Rosaleen enjoyed playing the guitar, refining her cooking skills and baking her world-famous chocolate chip cookies. She also loved exercise, including walking, Callanetics, and yoga. In her early years, Rose enjoyed Irish dancing and golf.

Rosaleen lived for her family and gave everything to them. She was loved by all and will be truly missed.

Rosaleen is survived by her husband Kenneth, her son Conor (Laura) and their children Abigail and Riley, her son Caolan (Kristen) and their children Brayden, Cayce, and Shayne, her stepson Jason (Lonnie) and their daughter Camryn, her stepson Christopher (Lori) and their children Sarah and Evan, and her siblings Mary (James), Alex (Emma), Thomas (Patricia), and Gerard (Brenda). Rosaleen is predeceased by her parents James “J.P.” Burke and Ellen Burke, and her brother John (Ann).

Calling hours will be held at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston, CT on Tuesday April 14th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A Catholic mass will be held at St. Thomas Church, 1 East Main Street, Thomaston, CT on Wednesday April 15th at 10:00am, followed by a burial at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, CT at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Rosaleen’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Steven M. Warner

Steven M. Warner, born November 16, 1968, in Waterbury, Connecticut, passed away, leaving behind a life full of love, laughter, hard work, and a trail of things that may or may not have been broken along the way.

Steven spent much of his life on his parents’ farm in Thomaston, a place that suited him perfectly. He loved his farm animals, the open space, and the freedom it gave him—whether that meant riding his motorcycle, working nonstop on one project after another, or simply hanging out with the guys. A true workaholic and playaholic, Steven believed in giving everything his full energy, whether it was work, fun, or family.

He was a funny guy with a big personality and an even bigger love for his girls, goats, and anything Halloween. He enjoyed creativity in all forms and had a lifelong knack for making, fixing, and—quite often—breaking just about anything he touched. As a kid, Steven was active in 4-H and later participated in raft races along the Connecticut River, showing early on his love for hands-on work, adventure, and a little bit of chaos.

Steven was also a loyal friend to many, forming deep, lifelong friendships that meant the world to him. Whether working, riding, or just spending time together, those friendships were built on laughter, trust, and years of shared memories.

Above all else, Steven’s greatest love was his family. He adored his daughters, Sadie and Lena Warner, with a fierce, unmistakable love. Being their dad was his proudest role, and the bond he shared with them was deep, protective, and unconditional. That love will always be a part of them along with his wife, Lisa S. Briotti who took care of him through sickness and health.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Lewis Warner Jr., and his brothers, William Warner and Lewis Warner III. He is survived by his brothers, Brian Warner and Richard Warner, his nephew Lewis Warner IV, his beloved daughters, Sadie and Lena Warner, and his wife, Lisa S. Briotti.

Steven will be remembered for his humor, his creativity, his relentless energy, and the enormous love he had for the people who mattered most to him. He lived loudly, loved deeply, and leaves behind a legacy that will be felt every day by those who knew and loved him.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 12 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston. A funeral home service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family may gather from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held at a later date.
