**1. Your capacity for patience gets built in real time.**
You think you're patient until you're on your fourth attempt to get shoes on before school. Fatherhood doesn't ask if you're ready. It just starts the reps.

**2. You will see yourself clearly — and not always like what you see.**
Your kids mirror back the best and worst of you. That's not comfortable. But it's one of the most honest growth opportunities you'll ever get.

**3. The pressure to provide never fully goes away.**
Nobody talks about this enough. The financial, emotional, and relational weight a dad carries is real. You're not weak for feeling it. You're just present.

**4. How you love their mom is part of how you parent.**
Your kids are watching everything. The way you speak to her. The way you repair after conflict. The way you pursue her. That becomes their template.

**5. Time moves at a completely different speed.**
The days are long. The years are terrifying. One morning they stop fitting in your lap and you don't know when it happened.
