Just posting this for my

Aight team. Here's the briefest knee stability/ hip strength/ balance starter pack.
A few prefaces
A) If you do heavy squats and deadlifts regularly you're over halfway there
B) These are all in addition to ^ heavy squats and deadlifts.
C) Any and all of these can be made easier or harder so lmk if you need scaling options
D) you will need a box/bench/chair/etc. and a dumbbell or something heavy

A) single leg step downs. Keep the toes of the bottom foot up so you're only using the leg on the box. Focus on not letting your knee wobble in. To progress increase weight or height or slow it down

B) single leg box squats - just like it sounds. Again focus on no letting your knee wobble in. Start with a taller surface and work toward full single leg squats or heavier weight.

C) cossack squat- wide feet, toes forward, knee tracks diagonally out over your toes. This one you should be able to load up a bunch since it's mostly strength vs balance/stability.

D) single leg RDL to airplanes. Focus on keeping your hips and chest parallel w the ground first then rotating your hips so your hips and chest are perpendicular with the ground. These should be as slow and controlled as possible.

When you go to the doctor and they say to take a couple weeks off.. ☠️☠️☠️
Rest, ice, compression, massage, ultrasound, etc are all PASSIVE modalities and won't elicit any long-term tissue changes. Except maybe make them weaker because you've been sitting on your ass for a few weeks. Tendons require stress for true tissue adaptation so they are strong enough to tolerate activities that would otherwise be painful. I.e targeted specific resistance training.

Notice how NONE of my recommendations are to static stretches.
The hip is a multiplanar joint, which means it's easier for things to move how they shouldn't. So we gotta make sure ALL the muscles around your hip are working well together...✨ neuromuscular coordination ✨
Especially if you are a runner (or quad-dominant athlete) your quads might actually be getting in the way of your squat mobility. That just means we need to make the opposite muscles (hamstrings and glutes) work at the same time. (Here's me getting on my deadlift soap box again). Tight hips with squats + pinching in the front of the hip can mean a lot of things but it also probably means something needs to be stronger 😬😬😬

Soap box time 🤬🤬🤬 I'm here to not waste your time, energy, money and actually get you better. Sorry not sorry.
I'm not here to make you do a bunch of BS just so we can appease the health insurance gods.

And huge shout out for this individual PRing their back squat yesterday 🥳💪🥲
