This Summer, I gave myself permission to slow down.
To schedule less. To be more mindful with my time. To savor the small, simple moments with my kids that somehow end up meaning the most.
And slowing down doesn’t come naturally to me. My instinct has always been to fill the space—to create, build, accomplish and keep evolving.
I love what I do. And I’d be lying if I said there haven’t been moments of guilt about not contributing more financially, or insecurity around stepping back after investing so much in my education, my practice, and this part of myself—and wondering whether I might lose the momentum I had begun to build..
But then I look at these two.
They won’t always be this little. They won’t always want me right beside them. My work will still be there—but I’ll never get this summer with these versions of them again.
So this Summer, I chose them. And I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
My autoimmune journey has also taught me that healing sometimes asks us to do the opposite of what comes naturally—to stop pushing, listen to our bodies and create more space for our nervous systems to exhale.
I still want to do it all. I’m just learning that I don’t have to do it all at the same time.
I’m also incredibly grateful for the friends and fellow mompreneurs who understand this push and pull and remind me to trust the season I’m in. I’m learning to believe that slowing down doesn’t mean falling behind—and that when the timing is right, the pieces will all fall into place.
As Fall approaches, I’m excited to slowly and intentionally create space for coaching again and explore new partnerships and collaborative care opportunities for Nourish Within Wellness.
But for now, I’m savoring these last little pieces of summer. 🤍
