Silverado Kids Camp 2026: Reptile Day!

We had a wild and wonderful day at Silverado Kids Camp 2026! Our reptile-themed day started with an educational reptile show, where the kids had the chance to learn about and get up close with some amazing creatures.

After the show, everyone got creative painting their own wooden snakes—with a little help from our residents along the way. It was wonderful to see the kids and residents working side by side, sharing smiles, stories, and plenty of encouragement.

And of course, we had to finish the day with a special snack: worms in a cup! It was a big hit with everyone!

Activities like Kids Camp are about more than just having fun. Spending time with children can bring energy, joy, and meaningful connection to people living with dementia. These intergenerational moments encourage engagement, create opportunities for residents to share their skills and experiences, and remind us all of how much connection can happen across generations.

A huge thank you to our sister community, Silverado Calabasas Memory Care Community , for inviting us to their wonderful pool party!

Our residents had an amazing afternoon soaking up the sunshine, enjoying the pool, sharing refreshments, and making new memories with friends. We love opportunities like these that bring our Silverado communities together and create moments of joy. we can't wait for the next adventure! 🏖️💦

Our residents enjoyed an afternoon filled with music as we watched the U.S. 300 Band perform at the Ronald Reagan Library. Afterwards, they enjoyed a delicious lunch and beautiful views overlooking Simi Valley. We spent time exploring the museum, including a visit to the historic Berlin Wall, where one of our favourite moments of the day happened.

As we stood in front of the wall, our resident Bob smiled and proudly said, "Tear down that wall!" It brought smiles all around and reminded us how powerful history can be when experienced together.

At Silverado Thousand Oaks, outings like these provide opportunities to connect, reminisce, learn, and create meaningful memories—all while enjoying a beautiful day together. 💙

This month, we proudly welcomed Wayne Sanner as our new Chief Executive Officer and President, as our founder, Loren Shook, stepped into the role of Executive Chairman and Founder.

For nearly 30 years, Loren led Silverado with one guiding belief: every person deserves to be treated with dignity, purpose, and love. That belief became who we are.

That legacy now moves forward. Wayne brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership and the same commitment to the people at the heart of everything we do.

Join us in celebrating Loren's incredible impact, and in welcoming Wayne to this next era. The future is bright and together, we'll keep changing lives with purpose, compassion, and excellence.

What an unforgettable evening celebrating 5 years of Silverado Thousand Oaks!
We were honored to celebrate this milestone with our residents, families, professional partners, and associates, reflecting on five years of providing compassionate, purpose-driven memory care in the Thousand Oaks community.

A heartfelt thank you to Bob Engler, Mayor Pro Tem, for presenting Silverado Thousand Oaks with a commemorative award in recognition of our impact on the community. We were also honored to welcome Wayne Sanner, CEO, and Loren Shook, President, whose presence made this celebration even more meaningful.

It was an elegant evening filled with gratitude, connection, and inspiring stories that reminded us why we do what we do every day.
