Today is World Cancer Day -- a day in which the world comes together to raise the profile of cancer in a positive and inspiring way. We'd like to take a moment to thank our extraordinary team who helps our patients get the care and support they need.

No one is ever prepared to hear they have cancer. Receiving a diagnosis and going through treatment is difficult both physically and mentally. It is estimated that 1 in 3 cancer patients experience mental or emotional distress during and after their cancer treatment journey.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. We want you to know if you are struggling, you are not alone!

If you or your caregivers are experiencing any mental health issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can contact us to ask about local support programs, visit https://www.cancersupportcommunity.org/ or call The American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345 for a 24/7 helpline which provides support for people dealing with cancer. Remember, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

We are dedicated to ensuring that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community.

Today is World Lung Cancer Day.

A low-dose CT scan is recommended to screen for lung nodules in individuals at high risk for developing lung cancer. For people who qualify, getting these scans on a yearly basis can increase the chance of finding a cancer at an earlier and more treatable stage and dramatically improve lung cancer survival rates.

A person is considered high risk if they are between 55–80 years old, have a 30 pack-year history of smoking (this means 1 pack a day for 30 years, 2 packs a day for 15 years, etc.), and are a current smoker or have quit within the last 15 years.

To learn more, the American Lung Association offers a lung cancer screening eligibility quiz which encourages people at high-risk to speak with their doctor.

Find out if you might be at risk for lung cancer and qualify for a lung cancer scan by taking our screening eligibility quiz.
