The Conejo Free Clinic is a leader in the non-profit safety net for low-income, uninsured adults and children in Ventura County and North Los Angeles County. The CFC’s volunteer team is the foundation of our patient care delivery system, consisting of physicians, nurses, dentists, dental specialists, attorneys, Private Practice Partners and support staff. All team members generously contribute the

Sarah Hawkins and Paulina Castellanos from Conejo Free Clinic were honored to present at City of Hope about the success of our Women’s Cancer Prevention & Screening Program and the impact it is having here in Ventura County.
We shared how CFC is helping women access mammograms, cervical cancer screenings, and follow-up care through a model built on partnership, care coordination, and trust.

One of the most important changes has also been one of the simplest: helping patients schedule mammograms while they are still at the clinic. For women facing cost, lack of insurance, language barriers, transportation challenges, or difficulty navigating the healthcare system, this support can make the difference between a referral and completed care.

We love our interns!

For the past two years, Sheneli Fernando, a junior at California Lutheran University, has volunteered with Conejo Free Clinic as a dental assistant, gaining meaningful hands-on experience while helping care for our community with compassion and kindness.

Sheneli also helped with the effort through the California Lutheran University Pre-Dental Society to donate and assemble 85 dental hygiene kits for neighbors in our community.

We’re so grateful for Sheneli’s dedication and heart for service, and we can’t wait to see all she accomplishes in the future.

Let’s celebrate the nurses who bring compassion, comfort, and care to our community every single day.

At Conejo Free Clinic, our nurses do so much more than provide medical care. They listen closely, calm fears, answer questions, offer reassurance, and help patients feel seen and supported during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.

Today, we are especially grateful to highlight Ariel Bloch, RN, whose dedication reflects the heart of our clinic and the spirit of service that makes CFC so special.

To every nurse who shares their time, talent, and heart with our patients, thank you. We are deeply grateful for all you do to help care for our neighbors!

Thank you so much to , Director, Partnerships & Philanthropy and Katie Lewis, Regional Director of U.S. Programs for for so generously hosting Conejo Free Clinic on a tour of your truly remarkable facility. We were blown away not only by the scale and innovation of the operation, but by the heart behind it all.

Direct Relief now supports more than 1,300 community clinics like ours across the country, helping provide medications, medical supplies, and critical resources to uninsured and underserved patients. Seeing the impact of that work up close was incredibly inspiring.

What made the visit even more meaningful was learning the history of how Direct Relief began — with one person simply trying to help after World War II by sending medical aid to those in need. From those humble beginnings grew one of the world’s leading humanitarian medical organizations, while still staying grounded in compassion and dignity for every patient served.

We are so excited to begin this partnership and grateful to be connected with an organization so deeply committed to strengthening the healthcare safety net.

A special thank you to our incredible volunteers who helped make the event so meaningful, and to our wonderful volunteer attorney and board member, Tim Fitzgerald, for hosting such a great night.

Meet Susan Drapkin

For the past 9 years, Susan has been a steady, compassionate voice in our legal clinic taking intake calls, listening closely, and connecting each person to the right attorney.

Susan had retired, and was enjoying it, but also felt like she wasn’t fully using her skills and she found her way to Conejo Free Clinic.

“I listen to people, validate their feelings, and help them get the support they need.”

What started as a way to stay engaged has become something more — connection, purpose, and community.

“I’m in awe of the volunteers here. Together, we’re serving a community of over 800,000 people.”

Conejo Free Clinic was proud to provide free dental screenings to local students in partnership with CVUSD and Adelante Comunidad Conejo at Conejo Academy.

Together, we are working to ensure students start school on a strong and healthy note by identifying dental needs early and connecting families with follow-up care and support.

We do not ask for or require:

• Insurance
• Proof of income
• Immigration status

For nearly 50 years, Conejo Free Clinic has provided compassionate care to our neighbors across Ventura County and Los Angeles County, ensuring everyone has access to the services they need.
