Come on in and grab your coffee because today we're talking about the money nobody gets excited about...until they NEED it. ☕️😂

Your emergency fund.

We insure the house.
We insure the car.
We insure our phones.
Some of y'all have insurance on the insurance. 🤣

But what protects your monthly cash flow when LIFE starts life-ing?

🚗 The transmission says, “I'm done.”
🏠 The AC quits in July.
🦷 A dental emergency pops up.
💼 Your income suddenly changes.

That's where an emergency fund comes in.

Think of it as a form of SELF-INSURANCE. 💰☂️

Instead of every unexpected expense immediately becoming a credit-card balance, loan, or financial crisis, you've intentionally created a cushion between you and Murphy.

And here's the part I really want you to understand:

An emergency fund isn't “money doing nothing.”

It's money doing a VERY important job.

It's protecting everything else you're building. 🏡

The right amount depends on your household, income stability, expenses and circumstances, but the goal is simple:

Build enough accessible savings that an unexpected expense can be an inconvenience instead of a catastrophe.

Because a strong Financial House needs more than investments growing upstairs.

It needs a little padding downstairs for when somebody breaks a window. 😂

🏡 Kitchen Table Question:
If you had an unexpected $1,000 expense TODAY, could you handle it without borrowing?

No shame. No judgment.

Just know your number so you can build your plan.

Faith. Focus. Finances. Future.
One pillar at a time. 💚

Ohhhhh...you thought I said:

“Don't invest until every penny of debt is paid off.”

😂😂😂

Friend.

Sorry, YOU weren't listening. 🤦🏽‍♀️📰

What I said was:

👉🏽 You need a PLAN for your debt while you're building wealth.

There is a difference.

Your Financial House isn't built by randomly throwing money at whatever financial goal is trending this week.

Debt.
Emergency savings.
Employer benefits.
Investing.
Protection.
Long-term goals.

They have to work TOGETHER. 🏡

And if high-interest debt is quietly eating your lunch every month, we probably need to have a conversation about that BEFORE you start telling me about the hot investment your cousin's coworker's neighbor saw on TikTok. 😂

Because wealth building isn't just about:

“How much can my money earn?”

It's also:

“How much is my debt COSTING me?” 👀

Nowwww we're listening. 😂

🏡 Pillar #2: Debt Management

Know what you owe.
Know what it's costing you.
Have a strategy for eliminating it.

That's how we build a stronger Financial House.

What say you: Are you listening NOW? 👂🏽😂

Come sit at the kitchen table for a minute because this one gets people every time. ☕️

Everybody wants to talk about INVESTING. 📈💰

“What should I invest in?”
“How do I make my money grow?”
“Where can I get the best return?”

And I LOVE that conversation.

But before we start decorating the upstairs, can we make sure the downstairs isn't flooding? 😂🏡

If you're carrying high-interest consumer debt, the interest you're PAYING may be working against the growth you're trying to CREATE.

For example, earning a hypothetical 8% on an investment while carrying debt costing you 20%+ is not exactly the wealth-building flex we think it is. 👀

That doesn't mean you have to wait until every single debt is gone before you ever invest. Your situation, interest rates, employer benefits, emergency savings, and other factors matter.

It DOES mean you need a strategy for your debt, not just an investment account.

Because in our Financial House, Pillar #2 isn't called “ignore the debt and hope the investments outrun it.” 🤣

We manage debt intentionally so more of our future dollars can eventually work FOR us instead of paying for our past.

🏡 Today's Kitchen Table Question:

Do you know the interest rate on EVERY debt you currently owe?

If not, there's your homework. 😉

Faith. Focus. Finances. Future.
We're building this house one pillar at a time.

Back to School starts with Back to Basics. 💙

A child can't thrive in the classroom without something as basic as clean, safe water.

This season, we at ThriveWell Financial Education Center are partnering with charity: water to help change that.

Watch this short video and, if you're able, join us in giving more children the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream.

Every drop💧 makes a difference.

You insure the house.

You insure the car.

You insure the phone.

But have you properly protected the income that pays for all three? 👀

Read that one again.

🏡 Pillar #1: Proper Protection

Before we talk about building wealth, we need to make sure one unexpected event can't dismantle everything we're working so hard to build.

If your paycheck stopped tomorrow, how long would your Financial House remain standing?

Okay, class…this one only has TWO possible answers. 😂YES or NO. No “kinda.” No “I think so.” No “my job handles that.” 👀...

Okay, class…this one only has TWO possible answers. 😂

YES or NO. No “kinda.” No “I think so.” No “my job handles that.” 👀

🏡 The Financial House Series: Pillar #1 — Proper Protection

Can you answer YES to these questions?

Do you know exactly how much life insurance coverage you have?

Do you know whether your coverage through work stays with you if you leave the job?

Do you know who your current beneficiaries are?

Do you know whether your coverage is enough for the people and responsibilities depending on your income?

And here’s the BIG one…

👉🏽 If something happened to you TODAY, would the people you love know exactly what you have, where it is, and what to do next?

YES ✅ or NO ❌?

Because “I have insurance” and “my financial house is properly protected” are NOT necessarily the same statement.

And listen…if you had to say NO more than you wanted to, that’s not a reason to panic.

That’s information.

Now you know which room in your Financial House needs a little attention. 🏡😉

So tell me…

👇🏽 How many YESes did you get?

Having insurance and having the RIGHT insurance are two different things. 👀

A lot of people can tell me they have life insurance.

But ask them:

How much coverage do you have?
What type is it?
Who are your beneficiaries?
When was the last time you reviewed it?
Would it actually be enough to protect the people depending on your income?

And suddenly…we’re looking for paperwork. 😩😂

Proper Protection isn’t about checking a box.

It’s about making sure the coverage you have still matches the life you’re living TODAY.

New house? 🏡
Higher income?
Marriage or divorce?
New baby or grandbaby?
Started a business?
Taking care of aging parents?

Your life changed.

Did your protection change with it?

🏡 You wouldn’t build a financial house and never inspect the walls.

Your protection deserves a regular review too.

Today’s Financial House Tip: Pull out your policies and make sure you can answer those five questions without guessing.

Because “I think I’m covered” isn’t a financial strategy.

Real wealth is having the confidence to live below your means while building a life that’s rich in what actually matters.

Your health AND your wealth don’t need anyone else’s approval.

This summer, normalize making decisions that protect the life you’re building.

Say no to what drains you.
Choose the meal that helps you feel your best.
Leave early because your body needs rest.
Move your body even when everyone else is sleeping in.
Spend differently because you’re serious about your financial future.

Because here’s what I’ve learned:

Health and wealth are both built through the choices nobody else gets to make for you.

Every boundary won’t make sense to everybody.

Everybody won’t understand why you’re changing how you eat, protecting your sleep, managing your stress, saving more, spending differently, or getting serious about protecting your future.

They don’t have to.

When burnout has your energy depleted, your gut out of rhythm, and your hormones feeling all over the place, it becomes harder to show up with the clarity and stamina your life requires.

And when your finances are constantly creating stress, your body can feel that pressure too.

That’s why I don’t separate health from wealth.

I want women to have the energy to enjoy what they’re building and the financial wisdom to protect it.

So this summer, give yourself permission to make the healthier choice.

The wiser choice.

The choice your future self will thank you for.

You don’t need permission to protect your peace, your body, or your legacy. 💚

What’s one health OR wealth decision you’re making differently this summer?
