A few years ago, I never imagined I’d be building an OB/GYN residency program. In rural South Georgia, we need doctors and it’s so hard to recruit here. The women in this community desperately need access to quality maternal and women’s healthcare. I have spent the last 2 years thinking about, praying about, meditating over how to make this program a blessing for our patients and excellent training for our doctors. Making this program the best it can be will require support from as many people as possible, so I’m bringing you with me on this journey.

We have our ACGME accreditation and will welcome our first class in July 2027!

Thank you for being here!

Grateful for a group of supportive women during this season of my life ❤️

Just because you’re good at something doesn’t mean you have to keep doing it.

As physicians, we place so much emphasis on our skills/intelligence that we forget to pay attention to what we actually LIKE doing.

While it’s inappropriate to think that we never have to do things we dislike, it’s a complete f*^+ing lie that we shouldn’t enjoy our careers.

Things I’m good at that I don’t like and therefore limit the time I spend doing them:

1. Working for 24 hours straight.

2. Making my kid’s lunches for school.

3. Responding to medical emergencies between the hours of midnight and 5am.

4. Seeing more than 20 patients everyday I clinic.

Have I been judged for having boundaries about how I choose to practice medicine? Absolutely. Am I a better doctor for doing it anyway? 100%

What’s something you’re good at but doesn’t light you up?

It needs to be a job that respects your unique skills and dreams.

It needs to be a job that honors your humanity and autonomy.

It needs to be a job that is sustainable for the long haul AND/OR helps you achieve a very specific goal.

Most jobs are not for you. Most jobs want a warm body, someone who will keep their head down and just “do the work”. Most jobs want to exploit your compassion and love of your patients.

You don’t want most jobs. You deserve to have high standards, ESPECIALLY as a “new grad”. We need you to stay in medicine for decades, not just a few years.
