Our optical shop is now open to the public! Please call 503 635 4436 ext. 116 to make an appointment with our optician Katie.
We do still have COVID restrictions in place at this time.
We stock over 300 frames with brands including Miraflex, Dilli Dalli, Life Italia, Superflex, Steve Madden, Nike, Guess, Flexon, Skechers, Lacoste, Ray-Ban, Oakley, Dutz, Marchon NYC, Kate Spade, OP, and more!
We also boast a selection of both sports glasses and fashionable sunglasses, and carry specialty frames such as Erin’s World for patients with flat nasal bridges, as well as frames with cable temple wraps for a more secure fit.
We are not in network with VSP (vision service plan) but we do offer a 20% discount for self-pay. The only vision insurance we are in network with is EyeMed.
Affordable eyewear packages for frames and lenses are available.
We fit all children with shatterproof (poly-carbonate) lenses and offer a 12 month warranty that includes anti-scratch and anti-glare lens coating as well as a 3 time replacement policy.
It usually takes about 2-3 weeks to receive your glasses once you have placed the order.

As the intensity of the COVID pandemic increases once again, we at Child Eye Care Associates continue to monitor state statistics and implement practices to ensure the safety of both staff and patients in this unprecedented time.
Given the recent rise in local cases, and following the precedent set by local hospitals, Child Eye Care Associates has decided to reintroduce some of our stricter COVID policies in order to keep our patients and staff as safe as possible.
All our staff members are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

As of 8/23/2021
• We will once again be strictly enforcing one companion per patient per visit; since the delta variant is affecting younger adults and children, we urge additional siblings to stay at home. If this is not possible, please call our clinic prior to your child’s appointment so that we can make necessary accommodations.
• At the moment, we are not reducing our patient load so that we may continue to provide timely care to our patients. Where possible, we will try and keep you in the exam rooms for your entire visit. When that is not possible, we may ask you to wait in your car while you dilate (a pager will be provided) so that we can keep our waiting room as clear as possible.
• We continue to wipe down every exam room and all equipment with virucidal spray between each patient.
• All patients/parents will be asked to initial and sign a document at check in each visit stating they have not had any COVID symptoms or exposure over the last 14 days.
• We will continue to take temperatures at check-in.

Our optical shop is re-opened! Child Eye Care Associates is delighted to welcome our new optician Katie to our team.

Katie is an ABO certified optician and has been working as an optician for almost 10 years. She has worked in several different areas of the field including retail and private practice.

Katie was born and raised in Northern California.

When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, and her cat Oliver. She also loves to read, watch movies, and go shopping.

The appropriate individual should have a minimum 1 years’ experience in a medical front office position, including computerized scheduling, and have familiarity with a variety of medical insurances.
The applicant must have excellent phone manners and interact in a professional and welcoming way with the public.
This position requires being able to multitask efficiently and accurately, get along well with others, and an individual who is willing and eager to pitch in and help out in all areas of front office work.

A busy exclusively pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus practice in the Portland metropolitan area is looking for a second certified or certification eligible orthoptist to join them full-time.
We are a team of four pediatric ophthalmologists, a pediatric optometrist, a certified orthoptist and three certified ophthalmic technicians and are the largest private pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus group in the area.
Job responsibilities will include visual and sensorimotor evaluation of pediatric and adult patients, non-surgical treatment of pediatric and adult strabismus patients, and management of amblyopia patients with possibilities to further expand your role as an orthoptist once you’re settled.
Portland is the largest city in Oregon and is consistently voted one of the top ten cities to live in the US. An hour and a half east of the Pacific coast and an hour west of the Cascade mountains – Portland can offer everything for an outdoor adventurer. Join our team of 4 MDs, 1 OD, 1 CO and 2 COTs. We offer a supportive and inclusive work environment where we value hard work and realize the role all our staff members play in providing our patients with excellent patient care.
Primary duties will be obtaining medical and ocular history, accurately measuring visual acuity in all patients over 6 months of age, checking IOP, color vision and confrontational visual fields, and assisting with minor procedures. Our COTs also play a role in patient triage, returning patient calls and assisting in our in-house optical shop when necessary. There will be an opportunity learn more about sensorimotor evaluation and CME is encouraged.
JCAHPO certification or relevant pediatric experience strongly desired.
401K available after first year. Vacation and sick leave available after first 3 months. Salary DOE

COVID Protocol update:

In order to keep everyone safe and healthy, our staff have been divided into teams, to limit possible virus spread between staff members.

This allows our office to stay open, with unaffected doctors and staff continuing care even if other staff need to quarantine.

Only one "team" will be in the office each day. We regret that this may:
- reduce appointment availability.
- increase the time it takes us to return phone calls and messages.

If your doctor does need to quarantine on your child's appointment day, we will notify you.
- you may keep the appointment but be seen by one of our other doctors
- you may reschedule, to see your usual doctor at a later date.

The American Academy of Ophthalmology recently sent out a statement urging all ophthalmologists to provide only urgent and emergent care to patients during the current coronavirus pandemic.

If your child had an upcoming eye appointment or elective eye surgery, this means you may have already been contacted regarding rescheduling or opting for an alternative visit (phone call, telemedicine).

Fortunately, most problems handled by the pediatric ophthalmologist are not urgent. However, just because a clinic schedule is reduced does not mean your eye doctor is not available for you! All healthcare providers are hard at work thinking of ways to keep in touch with patients and to make sure urgent problems are not missed during this time.

What are some urgent/emergent eye problems to watch out for?
1. Chemical burns
2. Trauma
3. Foreign body in eye
4. Preseptal or orbital cellulitis
5. White pupil

We’ll go into each of these in more detail over the next few days – in the meantime
