Happy RED Friday, our weekly tradition to officially Remember Everyone Deployed. What an incredible morning at coffee social! Kathy Bacon of the Patriot Piecemakers, a local chapter of the Quilts of Valor Foundation, was here to present handmade quilts to yet another group of veterans. Each quilt is stitched with love and gratitude and serves as a heartfelt thank you for their service and sacrifice. The Quilts of Valor Foundation has gifted over 405,000 quilts to veterans and service members across the country, and we are so honored that our residents were included today. Thank you, Kathy and all of the Patriot Piecemakers!
Another Fantastic Friday in the books.

We had a wonderful performance today from the Taylor Community Chorus. Such a treat for our veterans! We appreciate this talented group sharing their talent and time with us.
Our Gardening Club was out doing their thing, our Octaband group had the energy going strong, and Kenda and Molly, our four-legged friends, visited again - to our delight.

Happy Great Outdoors Month! Today's Wacky Wednesday theme day, camping and fishing, had our residents and staff dressing the part. A big thanks to the Loudon Lions Club for their generous sponsorship of bingo games and donation toward printing enlarged pictures for our neighborhoods! Your support of our veterans means so much. Thank you for thinking of us!
Congratulations to Matthew Higgins and Richard Ridley - our June Resident Spotlights (from last week's Updates with the Commandant meeting). We're honored to highlight you.
Our residents took full advantage of the outdoors today with pond fishing and courtyard visits - a perfect way to celebrate the theme day. Denise Therrien brought great music and her 7-year-old granddaughter joined her on stage and sang some songs, too!
To those who could not participate in theme day, we will let you 'off the hook' just this once. Get it…

What an amazing donation from the alzstore.com and puzzlehouse.com! We are very grateful for their thoughtfulness. And there are so many items - from realistic pets to puzzles to large button phones, bingo cards, fidgets, clocks, and more.
Keeping us busy was another full day of activities! We enjoyed Tai Chi, reading by the pond, harvesting (and taste testing!) our first radishes, napping in the sun, walking group, and another special visit from the Tilton Historical Society (THS) to meet over coffee and share Tilton's history as well as documents of our NH Veterans Home beginnings. We appreciate our gardening volunteers, Main Street Store volunteer, and friends at the THS - and thank them all for sharing their passions with us! 📚

This weekend was a special one! The Franklin Lodge Of Elks 1280 held their Kids' Fishing Derby at our pond and it was a blast. The pond was full of young anglers and we loved watching from the sidelines, spending time with the kids.
It was a great day for family time, too, with residents enjoying visits from loved ones throughout the day.
Add in crosswords, Pokeno, 'hand pool', computers in the 'Vet Cave', and horseshoes and you have a few of the many activities that kept us hopping. (Check out the double ringer and the leaner!) And we have a sneak peek for you... our new "bingo bucks" are on the way and they may or may not feature a familiar face. Stay tuned!

While we were out and about enjoying our week, we headed up 'nawth' to enjoy stops at Boise Rock, Cannon Mountain, and Artist Bluff where, if you look closely, you'll see people up on the ledge overlooking Echo Lake. We finally met up with the owner of the Alice in Wonderland (Rainbow) house, Dolores Reed, who moved into it in 1980 and painted it herself. We even caught a rare telephone booth siting!
Back at the homestead, we enjoyed a wonderful live performance from our talented friends Bob McCarthy & Mr. Martin, who were on the stage alongside Bob's faithful companion, Rhubarbe. Their music once again filled the home with soothing melodies. We hope you also had an amazing week!

Happy National Donut Day and RED Friday! Once again our Home is a sea of red as we Remember Everyone Deployed.
Heather (Volunteer Services) and Duain (Recreation) kicked off our day in style by greeting residents in full donut costumes, while singing 'Sugar Sugar'! While spreading the donut spirit, our traveling donut cart delivered the treats that were also served at coffee social.
Balloon toss and horseshoes kept the fun going, and Piper the dog was here today spreading all the love. Our veterans adore her. Thank you for the visit, Piper!

We had a wonderful visit today from NH State Archivist Ashley Miller. Ashley spoke at our monthly Updates & Spotlights with the Commandant meeting about receiving historical documents from our Home and shared additional incredible pieces important to our state's history. We are excited to have her back next month to share even more. On this we extend a big thanks to the Pelham VFW and VFW Auxiliary #10722 for sponsoring our special Bingo - always a blast. We're so grateful for their continued support. Company Beat had everyone moving and singing in rhythm. Molly, our four-legged friend, was here to spread some love to veterans and staff alike. Thank you for the visit, Molly!

Happy 603 Day, New Hampshire! On this first Wednesday theme day in June, we wore purple to support Alzheimer's Awareness Month.
What better way to celebrate this great weather than with a cookout, made possible by the Atkinson Lions Club's sponsorship! The Lions joined us to run the grill, transport veterans, and serve our veterans. That is what community is all about!
The Atkinson Lions Club also generously donated a new Canon camera that we used today to take these pics. No surprise that we wore out our 'old' camera! We are so grateful for their ongoing support.
Kickball kept the energy going today and our cribbage tournament had the competitive juices flowing. What a great Wednesday!
