If your child seems “fine” five minutes after a meltdown one day, but needs an hour to recover the next, that’s not manipulation or inconsistency.

A meltdown is a full-body stress response. Even when the tears stop, the brain and body are often still working hard to come back to a place of safety. Adrenaline, cortisol, muscle tension, and a racing heart can take time to settle, especially after intense stress.

Understanding what is happening beneath the behaviour can help us respond with more patience, connection, and realistic expectations. Recovery is not just about stopping the meltdown. It is about helping the nervous system feel safe enough to switch out of survival mode.

🎓💬 Speech Therapy Graduate! 💬🎓

Today was a bittersweet day as this sweet kiddo completed his final speech therapy session with Ms. Kayla! 🥹💙

From the very first session to today, he has worked hard, made tremendous progress, and achieved goals that once seemed far away. Watching his communication skills, confidence, and personality shine has been an absolute joy.

While we will miss seeing his smiling face each week, we are so proud of how far he has come and excited for all that lies ahead. Congratulations on this amazing accomplishment. You earned it! 🌟

✨ Building Early Language Through Play!

Using sentence strips and the Tongues Out! doggie game helped this kiddo practice early vocabulary, imitation, and simple word combinations in a fun and engaging way. The visual supports provided a model for language, while the playful doggie manipulatives encouraged participation, turn-taking, and communication. Every turn became an opportunity to listen, imitate, and use language with purpose! ✨🐾 💖
