This Black History Month, Three Moon Motherhood pauses to honor the Black Birth Workers whose wisdom and courage have shaped maternal care for generations, often in the face of systemic racism and exclusion. The legacy of Margaret Charles Smith, a renowned Black "granny midwife" who safely delivered thousands of babies in the Jim Crow south and preserved ancestral birth knowledge at a time when Black midwives were being pushed out by policy and racism lives on today. Black Birth Workers have always been here, protecting life, holding families, passing down sacred knowledge and resisting systems that devalue Black bodies. Their impact is not just history; it is living, breathing, and ongoing. At Three Moon Motherhood, we carry that legacy forward as a BIPOC-led organization, committed to addressing the equitable systems and conditions that continue to fuel the Black Maternal Health crisis today.

I’m not great at updating this account, but baby #3 coming late spring 🤍🌞 I have been called to do things very different this pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Making informed decisions for me and my baby, surrounding myself with positivity and trusting my instincts. I’m planning a homebirth with the most amazing midwife’s, OHMI Midwives

I will not be taking any births or postpartum clients from May- September. Giving myself all the time to heal and enjoy all the newborn cuddles! Lots of things in the works with a non-profit I co-founded Three Moon Motherhood 🤍 so stay tuned!

a birthworker’s dream: a supportive spouse.

Monday afternoon I left for a birth, and as always Josh makes me coffee before I go. He didn’t know what time I would be getting home so he made me dinner and wrapped it up for later. 15 hours and a shoulder dystocia later (everyone is okay) , he talked to me on my 2 hour drive home so I didn’t fall asleep. This seems so simple, but I couldn’t do this without his support. I just feel so loved, this man is everything to me 🥹💗
