A message to our patients in Ohio with Medical Mutual of Ohio (MMO) health insurance:

Our current contract with MMO ends Dec. 31, 2026. And, we are in discussions with MMO, actively working toward a new agreement. However, if an agreement is not reached before Jan. 1, 2027, Mercy Health physicians, hospitals and care sites in Ohio will be considered out-of-network for patients covered by MMO.

For now, nothing changes. You should continue to see your Mercy Health providers and keep any scheduled appointments.

Emergency care remains available regardless of network status. Should Mercy Health become out-of-network with MMO, some patients receiving ongoing care for certain chronic or complex conditions may qualify for Continuity of Care protections.

What you can do now:
To better understand your options and to ensure your access to Mercy Health care, consider taking the following steps:
▪️ Call MMO at the number on the back of your insurance card to ask how your coverage could be affected.
▪️ Talk with your employer or benefits representative if you receive MMO coverage through work.
▪️ If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, speak with your broker or plan representative about options for maintaining in-network access to Mercy Health doctors, hospitals and care sites.
▪️ Visit https://www.mercy.com/MMOUpdates for updates and to learn more about your coverage options and ways to keep your Mercy Health care team in network.

At Mercy Health, we understand how important it is to continue receiving care from care teams you know and trust. We remain committed to reaching an agreement with MMO that protects patients' access to affordable, high-quality health care. We will continue to keep you informed as discussions progress, and we are doing everything we can to avoid any disruption to your care.

“I used to suffer from migraines 1–2 times per month. Now that my sleep apnea is treated, my migraines are gone!” — Jim, nightly CPAP user

Did you know? An estimated 83.7 million adults in the U.S. have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and approximately 80% are undiagnosed.

OSA causes repeated pauses in breathing during sleep, reducing the oxygen your body receives. Left untreated, it can contribute to fatigue, decreased quality of life, high blood pressure, heart disease, heart attack and stroke.

The good news: OSA is treatable, and relief is possible.

Our registered sleep technologists are here to help you take the next step toward better sleep and better health. Talk with your health care provider or contact our sleep lab with questions.

Don’t ignore the signs. Better sleep can mean a healthier life.

Helping families gear up for a great school year!

Getting ready for a new school year can be exciting, but the cost of supplies can be a challenge for many families. That's why Mercy Health and our Getting Healthy Zone community partners came together to help students start the school year prepared and confident!

At the Let's Get a Healthy Start Back-to-School Event, more than 400 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to local families, helping students head back to the classroom ready to learn and thrive.

A huge thank you to our community partners, volunteers and everyone who helped make this event a success. Together, we're supporting local students and setting them up for a healthy, successful school year!

Small changes can lead to life-changing results.

That’s what motivates Makenna, a physical therapist at Mercy Health — St. Luke’s Outpatient Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation and Therapy, where she helps patients regain confidence, mobility, and quality of life through specialized pelvic floor therapy. Mercy Health — Toledo offers pelvic floor rehabilitation services at four convenient locations, including Sunforest Court, St. Luke’s and Perrysburg outpatient therapy clinics.

“My passion is seeing small changes in patients' lives week after week until all the small things come together to make a big change in a patient's life,” says Makenna.

For Eric of Maumee, those small changes made a remarkable difference.

After undergoing several surgeries to treat a painful infection, Eric faced a difficult recovery and significant limitations in his daily life.

“I was struggling to leave the house, and I had changed my life to dictate how far we could travel,” Eric explains.

Following a recommendation, he landed with Mercy Health and Makenna, whose specialty is pelvic floor rehabilitation. The pelvic floor is a wide and growing field. It is a specialized form of physical therapy that helps strengthen, relax and improve coordination of the muscles that support the bladder, bowel, and pelvic organs. It can also help reduce pain and improve function after surgery, injury, or certain medical conditions.

“I wanted nothing to do with going to therapy,” Eric admits. “My first impression was that she was young and could do nothing to help me.”

But Eric decided to listen to what Makenna had to offer, and to his surprise, she not only knew what she was talking about, but the results were astounding.

“I followed what she told me to do,“ he says. “She set me up with a regimen, she adjusted, she made recommendations, and in four weeks’ time, she absolutely changed my life. I told her in person that she made a difference in my life. I don’t need any more visits, and I have all the tools now — it just clicked.”

Today, Eric is traveling again and enjoying activities that once seemed out of reach. He credits Makenna’s skill, dedication and compassionate care for helping him achieve a positive outcome.

Makenna is one of many talented therapists at Mercy Health dedicated to helping patients live healthier, fuller lives. She works at our Monclova Road location, which is being reimagined within the former St. Luke’s Hospital campus. This September, several women’s health services will begin opening in the space. Later this fall, the second and third floors at 6005 Monclova Road will become the new Mercy Health — Women’s Center, offering women’s imaging and specialized women’s health services designed to meet the needs of our community.

At Mercy Health, we’re committed to providing expert care close to home, helping patients achieve meaningful results that can truly change their lives.
