We’re feeling this so much! And now there’s potential for more overall cuts due to changes happening to our billing codes in January.

Most of the time I try to keep my feed light with ideas to do at home to support speech and language or for other SLPs to do in therapy - but this is real talk time.

In five years since I opened my practice, Highmark has *DECREASED* their reimbursement to SLPs **THREE** times. A decrease. Three times in five years. A substantial amount over time.

Your premiums go up. The CEO makes more (and more) money. The people doing the actual work get paid less. (This is also happening at Mount Nittany Medical Center if you're unaware.)

This is why small practices close. This is why there is a lack of SLPs. We are NOT paid (or clearly respected) like we have our master's degrees, state license, teaching certificate, a million continuing ed hours, and more showing we are EXPERTS.

Private practice owners and the SLPs working for them have to get money from somewhere as we don't have a safety net of a bigger hospital to offset these continuing decreases. We are it. We are the success or downfall of our practices.

When I worked in the schools, I always wondered why there were no private practices in the area. Here is a BIG reason.

Did you hear the exciting news?? We are moving right behind us to a much larger clinic space! We are thrilled to be able to have more room to grow and expand our services, while also being able to stay on our street and serve our families. We will be announcing a move in date soon as construction is completed.

Everyone has been so encouraging this week as we have shared our big news that we get to move to a much larger clinic space right behind us in the near future! Moving from 1400 sqft to 3500 sqft is honestly a huge undertaking but we see the need for the Tomball community. We’ve been growing as a team over the last 2-3 years since moving to our current space and have truly maxed out our offices. If you’d like to support us, I’m going to shamelessly share our wishlist. I know there are mixed thoughts on Prime Day. I get it! If you prefer to shop locally/elsewhere, you can check out or wishlist items to get an idea of some things we’d like. A few people have asked how they can support our move. We’ve put together a wishlist of items to help us fill our clinic space. Please know that any donation, large or small, is much appreciated. Our clinic will be growing from 1400 sqft to 3500 sqft and will be 6-7 therapy rooms/offices. We’re excited to be able to serve more kids while also staying on the same street!
