Precision Pain Management

Precision Pain Management Personalized, Attentive and Compassionate Care It is direct and precise by isolating and treating one pain source or pain generator at a time.

My Philosophy

My philosophy on Interventional Pain Management employs a simple and pragmatic approach to the control of pain. My approach avoids old dogmatic thinking such as a “series of three” when it was evident the first of three showed no improvement or promise of relief at all. Listening to the patient problems is the essential beginnings of my interaction with a patient and is first and fo

remost to my approach. Listening should be a part of any and all physician’s interaction with patients. A treatment plan follows only after an extensive and detailed history is obtained, a directed and extensive physical exam is performed and an accurate assessment and review of all imaging including X-rays and MRI with the patient is made. The consent is then informed and agreed to

Narcotics play little if any at all role in my management. Of course there are instances and conditions where narcotics play a part in pain control but they are far and few in between. Rather a non-narcotic regimen is used and avoids issues such as addiction, narcotic side effects and complications. I insist on communicating with and involving your primary care physician so as to assist in and avoid complicating your medical management of conditions like diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. I also work at Maintaining a balance of avoiding traditional open surgery in favor of a minimally or less invasive interventional technique and at the same time knowing when a surgical consult is appropriate.

“I am so happy with what HF10 has done for me,” said George, whose crippling back pain prevented him from living his life to the fullest for 10 years.

George’s pain was caused by lumbar radiculopathy, a condition where a nerve root in the spinal column is pinched. After multiple pain management procedures, including epidural injections and radiofrequency ablations, failed to bring George relief Dr. John Coccaro suggested an HF10 trial.

George’s goal for his January 2020 trial was modest. “I simply wanted to be able to walk for longer and with less pain,” he recalled. “That goal was achieved when I got 60% pain relief during the trial and I was so encouraged by it that I moved forward with my implant in March 2020.”

“My pain relief has remained at 60% consistently since my implant and now I am happy to say that I have been able to return to enjoying my lifelong passion for fishing,” George explained.

“Chronic pain kept me from fishing for far too long until HF10 made it possible again.”
