We would like to congratulate recent Ken-Ton Bocees intern Wilkins, who interned with EMS unit this spring, for his recognition at tonights Town of Tonawanda board meeting. Caelob a recent graduate of Kenmore East assisted a neighbor in severe medical distress intervening until Town of Tonawanda Paramedics could arrive to treat and transport the patient to a local hospital. Town Supervisor John Flynn presented Caelob with a certificate of recognition and declared tomorrow August 4th, 2026 “Caelob Wilkin’s day” in the Town of Tonawanda. Today we honored the tremendous career of Paramedic Michael Botham. Paramedic Botham has served the residents Town of Tonawanda and Village of Kenmore since July of 1997. He has served in many roles not only as a Paramedic, but a distinguished member of the Police Departments SWAT team as a tactical Paramedic, a member of the Paramedic Honor Guard, and Paramedic Bike Team. He has also served in a training role as a field training officer. Paramedic Botham has left an incredible legacy of commitment and service to his community. Please congratulate him as he enters his next chapter! Thank you for all that you did to make the Ken-Ton community a safer place!

🌡️ HEAT SAFETY REMINDER FROM THE TOWN OF TONAWANDA PARAMEDICS & EMS 🚑

With high temperatures and humidity affecting our area, it's important to take extra precautions to protect yourself, your family, and your neighbors from heat-related illnesses.

☀️ Stay Safe in the Heat:
💧 Drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.
🏠 Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
😎 Limit strenuous outdoor activities, especially during the hottest part of the day (10 AM–4 PM).
🧴 Use sunscreen and wear a hat when outdoors.
🚗 Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle—even for a few minutes.

⚠️ Know the Warning Signs:
Heat exhaustion can cause heavy sweating, dizziness, weakness, nausea, headache, and fainting. Move to a cool place, sip water, and sip water slowly. Seek medical attention if symptoms worsen or don't improve.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Signs include a high body temperature, confusion, loss of consciousness, hot or dry skin, or seizures. Call 911 immediately.

❤️ Please check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone without access to air conditioning. A quick phone call or visit can make a big difference.

By taking a few simple precautions, we can all help keep our community safe during periods of extreme heat.

We had the district honor to attend the annual EMS memorial today in Albany thank you to the New York State Divison of Emergency Medical Services for putting together such an honorable event. This year 9 names were added to the memorial wall taking the total to 144. During this week please remember the sacrfice of all first responders who run into danger when others are going the other way. Thank you to all of our families for your unwavering support.

Congratulations to Paramedic David Rice on his retirement after a 23 year distinguished career serving the Town of Tonawanda and Village of Kenmore. Paramedic Rice was known not only for his extraordinary patient care, but his empathy and compassion. Paramedic Rice answered over 16,000 calls for service in his career. Congratulations Dave! Here is to a long, happy and healthy retirement. Thank you!
