Why so much emphasis on weight loss? To be able to wear a sexy piece of clothing? To feel more attractive to yourself or another? To gain more energy? Those and other reasons may be why you want to lose weight. From a medical standpoint looking at the research past, present and what's coming up. Losing weight will decrease cholesterol, reduction in blood pressure, heart disease risk will lower, joint pain will diminish and some medications can be lowered or discontinued. THEN, you feel better, activity levels often increase resulting in further weight loss and improved health. Look long term at your health, not just the next week.

Metabolic Syndrome??? Insulin resistance is the first step to reduce your risk of associated health problems. When treated, the body's insulin response will be improved, which will stabilize the body's blood sugars, often preventing progression to type II diabetes. Weight loss can be more readily achieved also.
Studies show that 14-36% of those with Metabolic Syndrome have some cardiovascular event (i.e. heart attack) within 6 years of diagnosis. This is a SERIOUS condition. (Information from Dr. Tague's Center for Nutrition).

in January 2010 here are some "watching screen" statistics. 8 to 18 year olds. Screens meaning, TV, computer, ipad, phone and video games.
7.5 hours using entertainment media
4.5 hours watching TV
1.5 hours computer
over an hour playing video games
That was five years ago.
Reading books-25 minutes per day
Have you ever tracked your "screen" time? When your face is toward a screen, how much of "life" is passing you by and you are missing it?
Get up, Stretch and Move. Do something. You will feel better.

Working out gives you the energy to get more out of life! How much do you want to get from life?

We know that life takes twists and turns and many changes come around. You get into an exercise routine and work schedule changes. Oh my! You move to a different part of the city. One extra mile to drive. Oh my! You miss a couple of weeks due to aliens taking your car keys. Getting out of routine. Oh my!
So? This is where "commitment" and "perseverance" come in. These two need to walk beside you each day so you can become familiar with them. When you need them, they are already good friends and are there to strengthen you. Call on them and make a way to keep exercising. The rest of your life's journey depends on your health. You can have good or bad. Your choice.

You can burn about 125 calories in a 30-minute walk. Just add: your dog on a leash or push a stroller, push an office chair around the office and that will increase it to 165. Besides, if you put a person in the chair at the office, it will up the calorie burn too and be a lot of laughs. Laughter burns calories too. Have some fun today. Need more giggles.
