What actually causes the “pop” during a chiropractic adjustment? 👀
Contrary to popular belief, it is NOT bones grinding together.
That sound is simply gas being released from the joint, similar to opening a soda can. Inside your joints is fluid and gas, and when the joint moves a certain way, pressure changes can create that popping sound.
A few important things to know:
✔️ The sound is normal
✔️ It is not harmful
✔️ Louder does NOT mean better
✔️ Some effective adjustments make very little noise at all
The goal of an adjustment is not to “make things crack.” The goal is to improve motion, function, and nervous system communication through specific chiropractic care.
