Aging isn’t just wrinkles. Your face changes in four layers at once, each on its own timeline.
Bone: the eye sockets widen and the cheekbones recede, so the tissue above has less support.
Fat: facial fat sits in separate pads that deflate and shift at different rates. That’s why temples hollow, cheeks flatten and jowls form.
Muscle: repeated expressions slowly etch lines that eventually stay even when your face is at rest.
Skin: you make less collagen and elastin over time, so skin loses firmness and bounce.
And sun speeds all of it up. In a 4.5-year trial, people who used sunscreen daily showed 24% less skin aging than those who used it occasionally.
Because each layer changes differently, the most natural results come from treating the right layer, not just the line you see. Save this for your next consultation.

A tattoo doesn’t fade because the laser burns it away. It fades because your body clears it.
Tattoo ink sits in the dermis in particles too large for your immune system to remove. A laser pulse, lasting a tiny fraction of a second, shatters those particles into fragments small enough for your body to carry away over the following weeks. That’s why fading continues between sessions.
Two things shape the result:
Pulse speed. Q-switched lasers fire in billionths of a second and have decades of proven results, especially on black ink. Picosecond lasers fire in trillionths of a second and break ink into finer fragments. They may clear black and blue ink in fewer sessions, though research comparing the two is still limited.
Wavelength. Each ink color absorbs different light:
• 1064 nm: black and dark blue
• 532 nm: red and orange
• 694–785 nm: green and blue
Good to know:
• Most tattoos need 6 to 12+ sessions, about 6 to 8 weeks apart.
• Yellow, white and pastel inks are the hardest to remove.
• Some skin-tone and cosmetic inks can darken, so a test spot comes first.
• On deeper skin tones, 1064 nm is usually the safest choice.
Complete removal isn’t always possible, and a consultation helps set realistic goals. Save this for yours.

Laser hair removal isn’t one technology. It’s several, and the right one depends on your skin tone and hair color.
Every device works the same basic way. Light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair, turns into heat, and damages the root so less hair grows back. What differs is the wavelength, and that changes how deep the light reaches and how much the skin’s own pigment absorbs.
Alexandrite (755 nm) is strongly absorbed by hair pigment and covers large areas quickly. It’s usually best for lighter skin with dark hair.
Diode (800–810 nm) reaches a little deeper and is used across a wide range of skin tones.
Nd:YAG (1064 nm) is absorbed least by the skin’s own pigment, which makes it the usual choice for deeper skin tones. It’s less effective on fine hair.
IPL isn’t a laser. It uses a broad spectrum of light, works best on light skin with dark hair, and usually needs more sessions.
A few things hold true for all of them:
• Only actively growing hairs respond, so most people need 6 to 8 sessions, spaced weeks apart.
• Gray, white, blond and red hair have too little pigment to respond well.
• The goal is long-term reduction, not 100% removal.
A consultation and test spot help confirm which device and settings fit your skin. Save this for your next visit.

Botox works the same way wherever it’s used: it relaxes the specific muscle whose movement creates a line. That’s why the same treatment can soften very different areas of the face.

Four areas are FDA-approved for Botox Cosmetic:
• Forehead lines (frontalis)
• Frown lines between the brows (corrugator and procerus)
• Crow’s feet (orbicularis oculi)
• Vertical neck bands (platysma)

Other areas are common off-label uses, which means providers use them regularly but they aren’t on the official label:
• A subtle brow lift
• Bunny lines on the nose
• A lip flip
• Downturned mouth corners
• A dimpled, “orange peel” chin

The jawline is different. It isn’t about wrinkles: relaxing the masseter, the main chewing muscle, can slim the lower face and ease clenching. This use is currently under FDA review.

A few things worth knowing:
• Most people notice results within 3 to 7 days.
• Results typically last about 3 to 4 months.
• Placement and dose shape how natural your expression looks afterward.
• Tell your provider if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular condition, or take any medications.

Three lasers, three different jobs. Here’s how to tell them apart.

CO₂ laser removes microscopic columns of skin and heats the tissue around them. It reaches deepest of the three, which is why it’s usually considered for deeper wrinkles, acne scars and sun damage. It also needs the most healing time.

Erbium laser removes tissue too, but with far less heat spreading into the surrounding skin. That makes it more precise, with a shorter recovery. It’s often a good fit for fine lines, texture and some darker skin tones.

Pico laser doesn’t remove skin at all. Its pulses last a trillionth of a second and break pigment into tiny particles that your body clears over the following weeks. It’s used for dark spots, uneven tone and tattoo removal.

Before any laser treatment, a few things are worth discussing with your provider:
• Your skin tone and how your skin has healed after past injuries or treatments
• Recent sun exposure or tanning
• Any history of cold sores, since resurfacing can trigger a flare
• How much downtime fits your schedule

The right laser depends on your skin and your goals, not on which one is newest. Save this for your next consultation.

Classic, RF, Dermapen 4, Morpheus8, Potenza. Same category, very different tools.

Classic microneedling creates tiny, controlled channels in the skin. As your skin repairs them, it builds new collagen and elastin.

RF microneedling does the same, then adds radiofrequency heat at the needle tips, deeper in the skin, to help tighten and remodel tissue.

The devices:
Dermapen 4 is classic microneedling: no heat, up to 3 mm.
Morpheus8 is bipolar RF: up to 4 mm on the face, 8 mm on the body.
Potenza is RF in monopolar or bipolar modes: up to 4 mm.

Deeper isn’t automatically better. Texture and pores often call for classic; acne scars and laxity often call for RF. Your skin, your goals and how much downtime you have decide the rest.
