Mental health professionals make a lasting difference wherever they serve.

As the American Psychological Association (APA) Annual Convention comes to a close, we're reflecting on the meaningful conversations we shared with psychologists, mental health professionals, students, and future clinicians who are passionate about improving lives through their work.

Throughout the conference, we had the opportunity to discuss the many ways psychologists can build rewarding careers across the federal healthcare system. From Military Treatment Facilities and the Defense Health Agency to Federal Occupational Health and other federal agencies, these professionals provide compassionate, evidence-based care that supports service members, veterans, federal employees, military families, and the communities they serve.

Thank you to everyone who visited our booth, shared your experiences, and explored opportunities to make an impact through federal healthcare. We look forward to continuing the conversations, building new relationships, and welcoming more mental health professionals to careers dedicated to service, excellence, and improving lives.

Today, we honor the brave service members who have been awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in combat or for making the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. Their courage, strength, and selfless dedication will never be forgotten. 💜

On Purple Heart Day, we pause to reflect on the extraordinary sacrifices of Purple Heart recipients and recognize the families, Veterans, and military communities who carry their legacy forward every day.

🌟 We’re proud to spotlight Dr. Stephen Terranova, a Clinical Psychologist whose expertise, dedication, and compassion make a meaningful impact at Naval Air Station Jacksonville every day.

After years in a demanding role, Dr. Terranova was looking for an opportunity to continue serving others while achieving a healthier balance and renewed sense of purpose.

In his role, Dr. Terranova evaluates service members experiencing mental health challenges and helps develop care plans that support both the individual's well-being and overall readiness. At SHR, he has found a team that supports him, values his expertise, and inspires him to continue growing.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Terranova is committed to building a culture where colleagues feel connected and supported. From hosting team pizza parties to recognizing cultural celebrations such as Cinco de Mayo and Eid, he creates opportunities to build connections and reminds his team that they are valued.
