The countdown to APA is on!

We're looking forward to joining the mental health community at the American Psychological Association (APA) Annual Convention and reconnecting with psychologists, mental health professionals, students, and future clinicians who are passionate about making a difference.

As we get ready for this year's conference, we're reflecting on one of our favorite recruiting events and the incredible conversations we've had with professionals exploring meaningful careers across the federal healthcare system.

At SHR, we help connect mental health professionals with opportunities to serve diverse patient populations — including service members, veterans, federal employees, military families, and the communities they support. Whether you're just beginning your career or looking for your next opportunity, federal healthcare offers meaningful work, professional growth, and the chance to make a lasting impact.

If you'll be attending, stop by Booth #454! We'd love to meet you, learn about your career goals, answer your questions, and share how psychologists and behavioral health professionals are making a difference across federal healthcare.

We can't wait to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new ones, and continue building partnerships throughout the conference. Will we see you at APA? Let us know in the comments!

A resilient healthcare workforce is built before it's needed.

As federal healthcare organizations navigate evolving workforce demands, the ability to rapidly deploy qualified clinicians, expand PRN coverage, and maintain continuity of care has become a critical operational advantage.

Supporting a large-scale, multi-site federal healthcare program continues to reinforce an important principle: resilient healthcare operations begin with resilient workforce strategies.

Across multiple clinic locations, SHR helps strengthen workforce readiness through scalable staffing strategies, standardized operational oversight, and flexible clinical workforce management designed to adapt as operational requirements evolve.

Effective workforce management isn’t simply about filling today’s vacancies; it’s about building resilient workforce systems that maintain quality, consistency, and continuity of care while remaining prepared for tomorrow’s challenges.

Whether responding to changing staffing demands, supporting operational continuity, or strengthening workforce resilience across complex federal healthcare environments, a trusted partner can help agencies remain focused on what matters most: delivering high-quality care to the workforce they serve.

Every engagement strengthens our experience, sharpens our approach, and reinforces our commitment to helping federal partners remain prepared for what will come next.

For more than a decade, SHR has partnered in the delivery of care at the Fairfax and Dumfries Ambulatory Care Centers, helping expand access to high-quality, coordinated healthcare for area military members, retirees, and their families.

This long-standing partnership demonstrates how innovative healthcare delivery models can improve access, strengthen continuity of care, and create measurable value for government healthcare systems.

Highlights include:
• Approximately $4.5 million in estimated annual government savings
• Expanded access to primary, specialty, urgent, and ancillary care
• A patient-centered model that prioritizes quality outcomes over service volume
• Coordinated care that enhances continuity of care and supports high patient satisfaction

This partnership is one example of how innovative care delivery models can strengthen healthcare systems while creating measurable value for patients, providers, and government stakeholders.

As federal healthcare continues to evolve, healthcare organizations must balance readiness, access, quality, and responsible stewardship of government resources. Partnerships built around measurable outcomes will continue to play a critical role in strengthening the Military Health System and supporting those who serve.

Cardiovascular health is more than a clinical metric, it is a cornerstone of long-term health, vitality, and readiness.

The latest cholesterol management recommendations from the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association, published this past March, reinforce what healthcare professionals have long understood: prevention delivers the greatest impact when risk is identified early, and care goals are tailored to the individual.

The updated guidance places greater emphasis on:
- Earlier identification and treatment of cardiovascular risk
- More personalized treatment strategies based upon risk
- Lower risk thresholds for initiating therapies to specific cholesterol goals
- Newer testing utilization such as ApoB, Lp(a) and calcium scores

While diagnostic tools and treatment options continue to advance, the fundamentals remain unchanged.

-Healthy lifestyle choices matter.
-Early intervention matters.
-Strong patient-provider partnerships matter.

In this edition of our clinical series, our Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Chow, discusses what these updated recommendations mean for healthcare providers and why proactive cardiovascular care remains one of the most effective ways to improve long-term outcomes.

At SHR, we believe delivering trusted healthcare solutions means helping patients stay healthy, not simply treating illness after it occurs.
