Avila's summer visits with all of the wonderful GBMC - Greater Baltimore Medical Center practices in our service area have continued with the fantastic providers and staff at GBMC at Joppa Road- what a close knit and caring team they are! Avila's next stop was a Lunch & Learn for GBMC's Center for Rehabilitation Medicine https://www.gbmc.org/services/rehab-medicine. Avila's CEO Will Cox, Director of Nursing Betsey Pierce, and Director of External Affairs Gretchen Maneval exchanged ideas with the impressive Rehab team at GBMC. We discussed how Avila could best support their patients and give respite to family caregivers by providing personal care, medication administration and reminders, driving and accompanying patients to doctors' appointments, and helping out around the house. GBMC's Center for Rehabilitation at the main hospital is joined by GBMC Physical Therapy at Owings Mills, and the brand new GBMC Physical Therapy at Texas Station- congratulations on the opening! Thank you, GBMC, for caring for your patients with such grace, skill and empathy- we are grateful to you!

Whether it’s rain, shine, or even snow, Connie makes sure her clients receive the best care possible. Her reliability, compassion, and strong work ethic make her a valued member of the Avila team. Connie reflects the very best of Avila and leaves a lasting positive impact on everyone she serves. We hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July holiday weekend celebrating 250 years! Thank you to Springwell Senior Living Community for hosting a lovely Avila Art Makers' Artist Talk with oil painter Bim Jones https://bim-jones.com/. We were excited to also get a peek at Springwell's fabulous July 4th decorations! We are grateful to be your partner in care, Springwell- thank you for caring for your residents so well!

"To every patient, every time, we will provide the care that we would want for our own loved ones." This is the pledge of Avila's partner GBMC - Greater Baltimore Medical Center, and it rings true for Avila and our clients as well. Over the last week, Avila has been delighted to host lunches with the doctors and staff of three GBMC practices- GBMC Internal Medicine, GBMC at Hunt Valley, and GBMC Medicine for Adults. During our conversations, the physicians and their teams shared how Avila Caregivers have been helpful caring for their patients- from personal care, to ensuring the right medications are taken at the right times. From accompanying patients to doctors' appointments, to preparing healthy meals, Avila has helped GBMC patients on their healing journey, keeping many from having to be admitted or readmitted to the hospital. We are grateful to partner with such esteemed medical providers at GBMC, and Avila looks forward to supporting their patients for years to come- caring for them just as we would our own loved ones.

What a wonderful week! Avila Music Makers jazz bassist Ed Hrybyk Music delighted the residents of Trinity House in Towson for a beautiful Father's Day concert. Trumpet player Makai Guest accompanied Ed, which was very special because Makai's grandmother is a former resident of Trinity House. At Brightview Senior Living Hunt Valley, resident Joe Nathanson gave an incredible Artist Talk for his inaugural Avila Art Makers exhibit, and the fantastic team at Brightview Hunt Valley even held a special ribbon cutting ceremony for Joe! We learned all about Joe's career as an Urban Planner- Joe attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for City Planning just like Avila's Gretchen Maneval did- albeit exactly 40 years earlier :-)!) At MIT, Joe studied with Hungarian-American artist Gyorgy Kepes, who happened to design the gorgeous stained-glass window behind the alter of The Church of the Redeemer, Baltimore- which coincidentally happens to be the church that Gretchen and her family attend- Smalltimore at its best!

Avila Art Makers are shining at Brightview Senior Living Annapolis, Brightview Senior Living Hunt Valley, and Brightview Senior Living Mays Chapel Ridge! Joe Nathanson, a Brightview Hunt Valley resident and Urban Planner, is thrilled to host an Artist Talk for his new Avila Art Makers watercolor exhibit this week, while other BV Hunt Valley residents and staff are reveling in their newly purchased Avila Art Makers' Steve Bleinberger watercolor paintings! Impressionist oil painter Mary Swann delighted the talented residents at Brightview Annapolis last week during her Artist Talk, including one resident who was an archeological illustrator for decades- an illustration from Mexico was even featured on the cover of a book! Last but not least, Jamie Pistorio, Vibrant Living Director at Brightview Mays Chapel Ridge, was thrilled to receive a gift of water-based oils from Avila (her colleague Crystal, and Kari Nelson from BV Hunt Valley, happened to be there to witness Jamie's glee :-)!) We can't wait to celebrate Mr. Nathanson's exhibit opening tomorrow with all his Brightview Hunt Valley fans!

Avila's CEO Will Cox enjoyed being out on the links with former Baltimore Ravens' tight end Daniel Wilcox (whose last name sounds exactly like "Will Cox's" first and last names put together- perhaps why they were put in the same foursome?!? :-)) Brightview Senior Living and Autumn Lake Healthcare were among the sponsors for this record-breaking 188 tournament!
