She Imagined Herself Happier Without Her Feet.
Surgery Gave Her a New Lease on Life.
Tealia spent years living with severe burning and stabbing
pain in her feet. She kept her feet on ice around the
clock. She tried custom orthotics, steroid injections,
prolotherapy, anti-inflammatory diets, long-term
immobilization, and physical therapy. Nothing worked.
Her pain continued to get worse.
At her lowest point, she imagined herself happier with
her feet amputated than continuing to live with the
pain she was experiencing.
During her student teaching, the pain was so severe she
would sneak an ice pack into the school bathroom just
to get a few seconds of relief so she could get through
the day.
Then she found Dr. Eric H. Williams at The Dellon
Institute for Peripheral Nerve Surgery.
"From the moment he answered the phone, I felt listened
to. He understood the pain I was going through and I
could tell he really wanted to help me get to the
bottom of it."
Surgery delivered excellent results — so good that she
could not wait to have surgery on her second foot.
Today Tealia is a teacher. She supports her husband through
his master's program. She has resumed the active
lifestyle she lost five years earlier.
"I really feel like I have a new lease on life."
Her advice to anyone still searching:
"Be your own advocate. Don't accept band-aid answers.
There is someone out there who can help you.
Do your research and don't give up."
Suffering from chronic pain? You don't have to live
this way. If treatments aren't working, it may be
nerve-related pain — and there are solutions.
