Susan Mary Johnston Alexander, 68, of Marietta, South Carolina, passed away on August 25th, 2026, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born on October 18th, 1957, she was the daughter of James “Bud” and Marylou Johnston, both previously deceased.
Susan was a devoted mother, a loving sister, and a gentle soul whose sweet demeanor never faded, even through life’s hardships. She leaves behind her beloved son, John Alexander; her sister, Sharon Inmon; and her brothers, Danny Johnston and Jimmy Johnston. She is also survived by her cherished dog, Lexi, who brought her comfort and joy every day.
A hardworking and dedicated woman, Susan worked at New American Embroidery for 15 years, and also worked at Kemco, CDS Ensembles, and Palmetto Garments. She was known for her reliability, her strong work ethic, and the quiet strength she carried into everything she did. Susan had a tender heart and an unwavering love for animals—especially dogs. She was humble, sweet natured, and deeply devoted to her family. Her gentle spirit, compassionate nature, and loving presence touched everyone who knew her.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 3rd, at 4:00 PM at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Travelers Rest, SC. There will be a family bereavement meal post service.
Susan will be remembered for her kindness, her humility, and the love she gave so freely. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who loved her.
