Did you know? Skilled nursing facilities and nursing homes are not quite the same.

Skilled nursing provides physician-directed medical care and rehabilitation after an illness, injury, or surgery. Nursing homes primarily provide ongoing help with daily living.

Skilled nursing stays are often short-term and recovery-focused (though can be ongoing to treat chronic conditions,) while nursing home care is usually long-term.

We offer skilled nursing care, both long and short-term, at all our Medilodge facilities. Reach out to us and schedule a tour to learn more!

Employee Spotlight: Sarah Peterson, MS, RDN, Clinical Dietitian

We’re proud to recognize Sarah Peterson, MS, RDN, Clinical Dietitian at Medilodge of Traverse City.

Sarah joined our team in April 2026. She earned her undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University and completed her master’s degree and dietetic internship at Michigan State University. After nearly five years working primarily in acute care and hospital settings, Sarah was excited to explore long-term care and has enjoyed building meaningful relationships with residents while continuing to learn and grow in her role.

Sarah takes the time to get to know each resident, helping create a dining experience that reflects their individual preferences, dietary needs, and personal goals. She is passionate about ensuring residents feel comfortable with their food choices and supported through any dietary changes.

Sarah’s bright smile, compassion, and attention to detail make a positive impact every day. We are grateful for her dedication to serving our residents with kindness and care.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys playing volleyball, cooking for family and friends, listening to music, and taking her dog on adventures.
