Light of Day - A USDA Certified Organic & Demeter Biodynamic Tea Farm Come, sip your tea, and appreciate the wonder of every created thing... Here is our story! Our address is: 3502 E. Traverse Hwy. Traverse City, Michigan.
(317)

Where to find us: Light of Day Organic's certified Organic & Biodynamic Farm, & on-site Tea Wellness Center is located in gorgeous Leelanau County, just 8 miles West of historic downtown Traverse City. We're on the direct route (M-72) to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Founding Director: Our company was founded by a Traverse City Mom named Angela Macke in 2004. Her background in Holis

tic health, as both a Registered Nurse, Educator, and Horticulturalist, plus her own positive experience utilizing gentle, natural rhythms to restore balance in her own life as she successfully manages an auto-immune disease she was diagnosed with 30 years ago, plays an integral role in the creation of each and every blend of Tea. Angela believes that a holistic approach is the most effective way to restore optimal health and a sense of well being. Helping her customers to create healthy lifestyle habits that support the prevention of illness, and to increase their overall vitality and passion for life is Angela’s intention as she continues to tend to her farm and her customers. Our Farm and Production: Our products are grown Certified Organic and Demeter Certified Biodynamic®. This is considered worldwide to be the highest standard for commercially grown food. We hand-harvest, low-temperature dry our botanicals in our licensed commercial farm kitchen, and then package our teas weekly with great care. With each step in the process, positive intention and prayer for your well being is offered up. We blend all of our private recipe teas in small batches to promote consistency, to maximize freshness and for optimal nutritive benefit. Certifications and process: We believe in honest tea and honest advertising here. We grow and process as much as we can of as many ingredients that we can grow, and also collaborate with other local and foreign farmers to occasionally outsource to purchase their high quality certified ingredients. Our land is 100% certified Organic (MOSA and Demeter Biodynamic®) and these audits are performed each year to verify our compliance. Conscientious packaging: We believe in presenting these products in their most natural, loose form. They have been packaged in lovely, domestically-manufactured, polished silver tins with embossed lids to protect them from the elements. We used a local designer, and local printer for labels and packaging needs. We blend, label and package our teas right here in our farm kitchen. Quality of product / Quality of Life: We wanted to make sure that taste wasn’t the only thing to feel good about. Ensuring the highest quality of tea for you and life for those who bring it to us is part of our mission. We honor all of those involved in bringing this extremely labor-intensive crop from the fields to our cup by paying everyone a proper living wage and encouraging the spiritual sacredness of the family unit and community with time off from work to recharge and to play in this beautiful area that we are blessed to call “home”. It is Light of Day’s sincere intention that you may enjoy balance: with superb health, inner peace, and joyfulness, and remain on a path that will benefit the greater good with all that you do. We hope that you will discover, and hopefully learn to cherish, the ancient and life-giving ritual of having a “spot of tea.”

For all of us here at Light of Day, tea is more than an iced beverage to soothe your thirst in the Summertime, or to comfort your sore throat in the Wintertime…it is a representation of the conscious choice and intention to live simply, and to live each day with a wonder and reverence for every created thing.

🌼Upcoming Full Moon thoughts from the Tea Fairy~
Each cup of Light of Day tea begins long before the leaf is picked. It begins with healthy, living soil, careful & thoughtful stewardship, positive intentions, the changing seasons, and farmers & land stewards alike being willing to work in partnership with nature, rather than trying to control it.
Just as the moon gradually becomes complete, so do we. In Biodynamic farming, we honor these rhythms, recognizing that growth, abundance & harvest all unfold in their own perfect timing. Tonight, around our community fire, let’s remember that all life flourishes when we live in harmony with those same natural cycles & rhythms.
Wherever you are in this beautiful world, may we all feel a little more rooted like the trees, a little more open like the blooming flowers, and a little more connected to each other by observing and appreciating these natural cycles & rhythms that sustain all life.
Peace to you.💛
With love from your friends at Light of Day Organic and Biodynamic Tea Farm

P.S The next full moon is on Monday. Tonight you will see a moon that is about 90% illuminated (waxing gibbous moon).

Hello friends,
After much thought, we’ve decided that this season will be the final season for guided farm tours at Light of Day Organics.

As many of you know, we are first and foremost a 24 year old very busy working and ever-expanding tea farm, presently managing four jumbo hoop houses and almost 60 beautiful acres of certified USDA organic and Demeter-certified Biodynamic land.

Throughout the growing season, our days are carefully planned around planting, tending to, hand harvesting, drying crops, hand blending then packaging teas, fulfilling online and wholesale orders, running our sweet tea shop and caring for the land.
While we’ve loved welcoming visitors and passionately sharing the story of American-grown tea, stopping in the middle of active farm work for tours has become increasingly challenging and takes valuable time away from the work required to grow and craft our exceptional tea.
Moving forward, we’ll be focusing our energy on farming, increasing tea production to meet our growing customer base, education through our seasonal retail on-farm store, online channels, and serving our customers through our teas and products.
We’re incredibly grateful to the thousands of guests who have visited the farm over the past 24 years. Sharing this beautiful place with you through our group and private owner-led tours has been a true joy, and we’re very honored to have been part of your tea journey.
If you’ve been thinking about taking a tour, this is the season to do it! We look forward to leading you on tours one last season and celebrating all we’ve built together. You are the heart of this tea farm, and without your loyal support, we wouldn't be here today! 🥰 Thank you.

With deep appreciation for you,
Angela & the Light of Day Organics Team
