Before 1970, EMS training and standards for ambulance crews varied wildly not just from region or state to state, but even from city to city - until this day 56 years ago, when the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians was founded.

In the first year, 1,520 candidates took the first ever NREMT exam simultaneously across 51 sites.

For the next 56 years, the National Registry would work to ensure that no matter where you live, the EMTs and Paramedics answering your call meet a strict, rigorous, and uniform standard of lifesaving care.

Since that first class, the registry has certified nearly two million EMS providers, and over half a million of them are current!

At Grundy County Ambulance, we are proud to have a roster full of Nationally Registered professionals who put in the hours of training, continuing education, and recertification required to maintain this standard.

Your hands can change a life.

We are proud to partner with the Trenton Fire Department and the Grundy County Health Department this coming Monday to bring you a completely free Hands-Only CPR community class!

When an emergency strikes, the minutes before an ambulance arrives are critical. Knowing how to perform quick, effective chest compressions can double or even triple a cardiac arrest patient's chance of survival.

This quick session is designed for busy schedules. in just 30 minutes you'll learn how to recognize a cardiac emergency and how to step up and make a difference.

Let's work together to make our community safer and more resilient. Bring a friend, neighbor, or family member. We hope to see you there!

This Memorial Day, we remember the incredible courage and selflessness of the military service members who gave everything to protect our country. We are profoundly grateful for their sacrifice.

If you are traveling home from holiday gatherings this afternoon, please drive defensively, stay alert, and watch out for emergency vehicles on the roadways.

EMS is a career that involves long shifts, prolonged time away from family. Sometimes it's dirty and dangerous, and it has more than its fair share of mental and emotional stressors. It's also a dynamic, highly demanding field requiring a never ending study of medical knowledge, protocol changes, and technological advancements to stay current.

The Friday of EMS week is set aside as EMS Recognition Day, a time to shine the spotlight on the specialized skills and tireless dedication of the frontline providers, out there in our community delivering high quality prehospital care every day.

Thank you for choosing this path, and for all the hard work you put in to be able to take care of our community.
