How do you know when it’s the right time to go to the hospital? Doulas are trained to recognize the signs of labor progression and can help you labor at home effectively and confidently so you don’t get to the hospital too early or late. 😄👍

While birth is unpredictable, there are indications we watch for to know the best time to head to the hospital…

While contraction pattern may help to know, how a mama ✅Looks ✅Sounds ✅Moves
is usually a better indicator.

Each stage of labor typically looks and sounds different and being able to recognize those changes in each stage will help you feel more confident in when to transfer to the hospital from home. 👏🏻

A common misconception is that doulas are the same as midwives.

Truth: Doulas provide emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, but they do not provide medical care like midwives do.

Midwives handle clinical tasks such as checking fetal heart rates, monitoring vital signs, and delivering babies, while doulas focus on comfort measures, advocacy, and emotional well-being.

I’ve watched you hold hands through contractions, whisper encouragement when words were hard to find, advocate for your families, cut umbilical cords with trembling hands, and gaze at your babies with overwhelming love.

Fatherhood begins long before a child is born. It begins in the countless ways you show up—attending appointments, helping prepare for birth, supporting your partner, and embracing the unknown with courage and devotion.

Your presence matters. Your strength matters. Your love matters.

A great opportunity to learn & teach your daughters.

We’re hosting a CYCLE PREP workshop in Tyler!

CYCLE PREP by Pearl and Thistle is a workshop created to bring better body literacy to the Church through fertility education at all ages and stages. This 90-minute parent-daughter workshop introduces girls (ages 9-12) to the language of their bodies in a positive, adult-supported environment.
