Wellness Wednesday Fact

The neck is the most mobile part of your spine.

Your neck (also called the cervical spine) is designed to move in many directions so you can look up, down, side to side, and over your shoulder throughout the day.

This mobility is what helps you drive safely, work on a computer, play with your kids, and stay aware of your surroundings. But because the neck moves so much, it can also become tight or strained more easily, especially with long periods of looking down at phones or screens.

Keeping the neck moving well and supported by good posture helps reduce unnecessary stress on muscles and joints and supports comfortable daily movement.

A healthy neck helps you keep up with life’s busy moments 💙

🌀 Wellness Wednesday Fact 🌀

Forward head posture increases strain on your neck—and moms feel this all the time without even realizing it.

Think about how often your head is tipped forward during the day:
🤱 Feeding or rocking a baby
📱 Looking down at your phone
🧺 Folding laundry
🛁 Leaning over the tub
🚗 Checking on kids in the back seat

When your head sits forward instead of stacked over your shoulders, the muscles in your neck and upper back have to work much harder to hold it up. Over time, this extra stress can lead to neck tightness, headaches, and shoulder tension.

A simple reset: gently bring your ears back over your shoulders and let your shoulder blades relax down and back. Small posture checks throughout the day can help reduce strain while you care for everyone else 💙

Wellness Wednesday Fact

Your head weighs about 8–12 pounds—about the weight of a bowling ball! 🎳

Mama, do you have neck pain? Headaches? Pain between your shoulder blades? You've tried stretching and it just won't go away. 😖

When your head is stacked properly over your shoulders, your neck muscles can support it with ease. Now add in feeding a baby, carrying kids on your hip, scrolling during nap time, helping with homework, or leaning over the sink at bath time… and suddenly your neck and shoulders are working overtime.

When your head drifts forward, even just a little, the muscles in your neck and upper back have to work much harder to support that weight. Over time, this extra strain can contribute to neck tension, headaches, and shoulder tightness—things many moms just push through.

A gentle reminder: small posture resets during the day can go a long way in supporting your neck while you take care of everyone else 💙

✨Wellness Wednesday Fact ✨

One of your spine’s most important jobs is protecting your spinal cord.

The spinal cord is a bundle of nerves that runs through the center of your spine and acts like a communication highway between your brain and the rest of your body. Every time you move a muscle, feel a sensation, or change position, messages are traveling through this system.

Your vertebrae are designed to surround and shield the spinal cord, helping keep it safe while still allowing your body to move. That balance of protection and motion is key to healthy function.

That’s why spinal health matters—it’s not just about bones, it’s about how your body communicates and moves as a whole 💙

Your spine isn’t meant to be perfectly straight!
It actually has three natural curves—in the neck, mid-back, and low back—and they’re there for a reason.

These curves act like shock absorbers, helping your body handle everyday movements like walking, running, lifting, and even sitting. They also help keep you balanced and upright, so your muscles don’t have to work overtime just to hold you up.

When these curves are supported and moving well, your spine can do its job more efficiently—protecting your nerves and supporting healthy movement.

Structure matters… because it affects how your body functions 💙

🧠Wellness Wednesday Fact🧠

Did you know the average adult spine is made up of 33 bones, called vertebrae?

These vertebrae stack on top of each other to form your spine, helping support your body, protect your spinal cord, and allow you to move, bend, and twist. Each section of the spine has a different job—from holding up your head to helping you stand, walk, and lift.

Each vertebra plays a role in support, movement, and nerve communication, which is why spinal health matters at every age. Small changes in how your spine moves and functions can have a big impact over time ✨

Your spine does a lot for you every single day—take good care of it! 🙌

🚨Thanksgiving PSA from Dr. Erica:

We love your enthusiasm, but please keep your holiday cheer (and your germs) to yourself. Babies have tiny immune systems, and even “just one little kiss” can spread illnesses they’re not ready to fight. 🚫🦠

So this year, let’s stick to smiling, waving, and admiring those sweet cheeks from a safe distance. Let's be respectful, folks!

Their immune system and their parents thank you! 🤎🤎

Attention all fairy tale things! Do not get comfortable. Your welcome is officially worn out!

Unless you’re a patient of one of the Three Blind Mice or The Muffin Man. Then you’re always welcome!

Here’s to hoping everyone has a safe, warm, healthy Halloween! 🎃👻💀🍭
