📢 Exciting news today, as Governor Kathy Hochul announced she would be setting aside additional funding for nonprofits that support crime victims and survivors. ❤️
We are deeply grateful to New York state for recognizing the vital need for trauma-informed programs and services provided by teams such as our own St. Peter's Crime Victim Services. This funding allows us to expand counseling, advocacy, and medical care programs – meaning survivors have access to the sensitive, timely, and high-quality care they deserve.
Crime Victim Services program director Lindsey Crusan-Muse praised the announcement in an Op-Ed she wrote for Empire Report NY, noting: "For victim assistance providers, this commitment provides greater stability at a time of considerable uncertainty and helps preserve a network of services that New Yorkers rely upon in some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Governor Hochul and New York state deserve recognition for making that investment and for recognizing the importance of sustaining these services statewide."
