Ronnie Lamar Setzer III, cherished husband, father, brother, son, and dedicated teacher, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 37 on August 27, 2026. Born on March 22, 1989, in Birmingham, Alabama, Ronnie leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and learning. Preceded in death by his grandparents Faye Evans, Ronnie Setzer Sr., and Samuel Chavez, stepfather DJ Barber, and Uncle John Setzer, Ronnie is survived by a loving family that includes his grandparents Kathy and Steve Wood, parents and step-parents Ronnie Setzer II, Kim Setzer, Monica Barber, and Gary Johnson. His beloved wife Kaitlin Setzer and children Fox and Luna Setzer, along with Vick and J.P. Callaway, will carry forward his memory, as will his siblings Katherine, Samuel, and Nathan, and numerous extended family members and friends.

Ronnie's passion for education was evident in his pursuit of knowledge, culminating in a master's degree in education from UAB in 2025, complementing his bachelor's degree in history. He was admired by his students for his engaging teaching style and infectious enthusiasm. A devoted fan of music, particularly the Beatles, Ronnie's creativity shone through his humorous hand drawn cartoons. His joy for life was contagious, often found in the laughs he shared with others and the cherished moments spent with family. Martha Marie Swint Sherer of Springville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at TLC, in Oneonta, Alabama. Born in Jonesboro, Georgia on February 11, 1933 she spent most of her adult life in Birmingham, Alabama, before making Springville, Alabama her home for the last 23 years.

Martha began her full-time career with the Social Security Administration and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2000. After retirement, she worked part time at Café on Main and Joel’s Restaurant in Trussville, Alabama.

Martha loved spending time with her children and joined them on many vacations, including mountain trips, beach trips, and five cruises. She loved being “on the go,” and the family often joked that her grave marker should read, “Yeah, I’ll go!” A devoted Alabama football fan, she proudly displayed a “Saban Nation” bumper sticker on the back of her car for many years. Martha also enjoyed playing the piano and organ and played for a few churches over the years. She was especially attached to her devoted guard dog, Bentley, a 15-year-old dachshund that loved her dearly.

Martha was a member of ONEeighty Church in Springville, Alabama, attending mostly online as her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Sherer, four brothers, Edgar Swint, Willis Swint, Robert Swint, Blakely Swint, and two sisters, Dorothy Sims and Frances Wynn.

Jerald Wilson

November 1, 1943 – August 22, 2026

Jerald Wilson, age 82, was reunited with his wife of 50 years and got to see his Lord and; Savior
Jesus Christ face to face on August 22nd . He was preceded in death by his parents, George and
Almeda; sister and brother-in-law Dontis and Gordon; and his beloved wife Marla. He is
survived by his best friend and brother Warren (Peggy); daughter April (Drew) and grandsons
Graham, Collier with grandson #3 coming soon; sister-in-law Glenda (Dale); brother-in-law Dean
(Mary); and his niece, nephew and great-nieces and nephew.

Jerald spent much of his life as an educator, school administrator, and pastor but mostly as a
true friend to many and to Jesus. He had a lasting impact on all he encountered in the nearly six
decades he worked, ministered, and taught the Word of God. His former students were such an
important part of his life, and he constantly reflected and shared stories of them. Jerald was a
committed leader in the church, in his school and in his family. God gave him the gift of
teaching – math was his thing – but sharing the love of Jesus and truth of God’s Word with
others was his passion and life’s mission. After retiring from his professional career, Jerald
lovingly led multiple Bible Studies throughout the week to further the Kingdom of God. He
loved the church and appropriately spent his last week on earth leading his Bible study on

Mary Katherine (Stone) Wilson
Age 70
She passed away, August 22, 2026, peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends.
Kathy was born April 10, 1956, in Jefferson County, AL.
She was a cherished member of Highland View Baptist Church for over 30 years; her faith was an important part of her life. She loved her church family and found comfort and joy in her relationship with the Lord.
For 33 years, she proudly served her community as a Special Needs School bus driver for the Jefferson County School System. During those years, she touched the lives of countless children and their families. She was known not only for getting her students safely to and from school, but also for the kindness, patience, and care she showed them along the way. Her dedication to her work reflected the loving person she was.
She also spent 30 years working at Cosby Nursery, where she enjoyed her work and the people she met along the way. Her years of hard work and dedication were an important part of who she was, and she took pride in everything she did. One of the things that brought her the greatest joy was her love for her Grand Daughters and Great Grandchildren. She spent countless hours playing and having fun with them.

David Wayne Rozell (Dave), 51 of Steele, AL went to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday 8-12-2026 at home.

David was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Не grew up in Belleville, Michigan graduating from Belleville High School class of 1993. David loved God, family, and had a lifelong mechanical passion for working on cars,
he had a gift of fixing anything that was broken making it work again. He enjoyed giving things to people to make them happy, he had an ability a gift to make people laugh, he also loved Detroit sports and he loved music.

He was preceded in death by his (Mother) Rita Name Smith Rozell and survived by his (Father) Larry Wayne Rozell, Siblings, (Brother) Steven Rozell, (Sisters) Julie Rozell and Teresa Padrone, his (Son)
Dominic Rozell, Grandchildren, a Niece and Nephews.

David will be deeply missed but never forgotten and will live forever in our hearts. Until we see you again, We love you Dave!

David's family will hold a viewing and visitation for both family and friends at the Deerfoot Memorial Funeral home chapel at 5360 Deerfoot Pkwy, Trussville, AL 35173 on August 18th at 12 noon with a 1pm service following. He will be laid to rest at Steele Cemetery in Steele, Alabama alongside his Mother.

Robert Kelly McGuire passed away on Monday, August 10th.

Born October 16, 1984, Rob lived with a rare fire, the kind carried by men who run toward danger, who protect others first, who rise again no matter how many times life tries to break them.

A proud Army Ranger of the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Rob served five deployments, three to Iraq and two to Afghanistan. He was a highly decorated soldier whose service was marked by extraordinary courage and dedication. Among his highest honors was the Soldier’s Medal for Heroism, awarded in recognition of his exceptional bravery. He also received two Joint Service Achievement Medals, four Army Commendation Medals, the Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, the Army Good Conduct Medal, and other military honors throughout his distinguished career. He survived a catastrophic plane crash in Afghanistan, carrying its scars with a quiet, unshakeable strength. Even while battling darkness, he was the one who lit up every room.

After medically retiring, Rob refused to stop climbing. He returned to school, earned his associate’s degree from Jefferson State, then graduated from UAB with his bachelor’s degree with a 4.0 GPA in Biobehavioral Nutrition and Wellness. Accepted into the Dietitian Education Program, he became a student admired for his grit, kindness, and relentless drive.
